Very valuable informations,, I have a question; what makes a rock that has lots of gold green? Its not silver, when roasted it turns yellowish brown,, when put in acid after roasting and boiling,, it gets green again !!😂 Seriously
@Goldchannel Жыл бұрын
I tink, A rock that appears green and contains gold could potentially be a mineral known as "chalcopyrite." Chalcopyrite is a copper iron sulfide mineral that often has a brassy-yellow color and can tarnish to various shades of green. While it is primarily composed of copper and sulfur, it can contain small amounts of other elements, including gold. When chalcopyrite is heated, it undergoes a chemical reaction that can result in the release of sulfur dioxide gas and the oxidation of the copper and iron minerals. This oxidation process can cause the rock to turn yellowish brown. However, the gold within the chalcopyrite remains relatively unchanged during this process. When the roasted rock is then subjected to acid, such as hydrochloric acid, it can dissolve the copper minerals and leave behind the gold particles. This dissolution of copper can create a solution that appears green due to the presence of dissolved copper ions. Therefore, the green color you observe after boiling the roasted rock in acid is likely due to the dissolved copper, not the gold itself. It's worth noting that without a detailed analysis of the rock, it is difficult to determine the exact mineral composition and the presence of gold. If you have a specific rock sample and are interested in its mineral content, it is recommended to consult with a professional geologist or mineralogist who can conduct proper testing and analysis.

@@Goldchannel thank you Hassan for your reply,, its not chalcopyrite,, i suppose there is something mixed with gold in that rock, either silver or lead, which makes it greenish,, but when it comes to precipitation,, i add small drops of sulfuric acid to the solution,, but no lead precipitate,, i tried dissolving silver if present with nitric acid, and then add hcl, but no silver,, instead it precipitates gold adding SMB !! or let me say a brown precipitate (not sure if it is gold)!! This is driving me crazy 😅

Dear friend, gold can be dissolved in nitric acid (HNo3) if it is in powder form
@Goldchannel Жыл бұрын
or in small pieces. However, if the gold is in a solid form such as a bar or nugget, it will not dissolve completely in nitric acid. Instead, a mixture of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid (known as aqua regia) is used to dissolve solid gold. The reaction between gold and nitric acid produces nitrogen dioxide gas, which is toxic and can be harmful if inhaled. Therefore, it is important to handle nitric acid with care and in a well-ventilated area.

@@Goldchannel thanks for this helpful link,my question is, urea and water is it the last thing to add after filter step Or is it iron sulphate is the last before wait for 3 hours please I need you to respond fast on this one Thanks

Hi, I read your reply were you said that nitric acid can desolve gold if is in powder, it makes sense because my gold ore am trying to process is in powder that's mean after Crushing, I mix the ore with nitric then filter, then add urea and water the same amount, then add iron sulphate with water, then allow 3 hours please tell me if am correct. thanks

Interesting. I didn't know there were so many tellurides. This ore demands large structures for extraction. Usually the finely ground and calcined ore is treated with chlorine or cyanide, and recovered by electrolysis and zinc carburizing, respectively. I found some silver in the black stones of a river, and gold in the brown ones. I never knew what it was really about. A hug.
@Goldchannel Жыл бұрын
Yes, telluride minerals can be complex and difficult to extract, which is why specialized processes and equipment are often necessary. It's exciting to hear that you've found silver and gold in the stones of a river! Keep in mind that it can be challenging to extract these metals from their natural sources without the appropriate tools and equipment. However, it's still a wonderful discovery and can lead to a greater appreciation for the Earth's natural resources. Best wishes to you!

Dude, while I agree tellurides are an important source of gold, do you really have any experience looking for these very rare minerals in the field? All you are saying is information that is readily available in most mineralogy text books. Specially what would you look for in the field? Ooh, hydrothermal ore deposits, let's go find one! 😂
