She isn't good at lying though. When she was asked which was the split ball, she could so easily have lied and touched the steal ball. Then she could easily have said she touched the wrong ball at any point after that. The black girl knew she was blatantly lying but only went along with it because it's better that the bad person gets the money than goes along with it. That said, the black girl was extremely foolish for not forcing her to split. Ella 0:23 - Tight lipped closed smile (Hiding deceit) (Can also be seen on verdict at 3:58) 0:43 - Steeple fingers + finger on chin (Calculating - think car salesman) 0:46 - Rapidly and unnaturally snaps to a change of position on word 'steal' 0:53 - Biting lip - (Holding something back) 1:03 - Eyes light up upon 'steal' info. 1:05 - Rapid blinking (Dishonest) 2:08 - Throughout her story her hands are clasped and closed from her counterpart (who was ultra open). 2:25 - As she puts all her effort in to the smile, she unconsciously hides her hands far below the table and ends up in the 'naughty school child' sitting position. Michelle 0:37 - Genuine smile, bottom and top set showing. 0:40 - Vulnerable sitting position, delicately on guard, innocent. 0:49 - 'Eek' - Mouth expression, genuinely worried. Also at 1:29 and 1:42. 0:52 - Another friendly and genuine smile at the thought of splitting with counterpart. 0:59 - Praying. She is hoping, not plotting. 1:51 - Consistent story, keeps a good tempo. 1:59 - Open palms throughout story (hiding nothing). 2:30 - Sat upright, positive, showing her cards + praying. Conclusion From the start Michelle is engaging Ella with eye contact and does so throughout. Ella is fixed on Jasper and only reciprocates smiles when there is a cue to do so. You can see at 1:12 Ella, not wanting to engage in eye contact, takes a short look at Michelle who I'm sure would have looked back at this point, hence Ella quickly looks back at Jasper and realises she forgot to smile so plasters one on late. The only plus I can give Ella is that she spoke well when telling Michelle her story. However, the slip up from Ella when picking up the ball she claimed was not the steal ball was truly fascinating. Like a rabbit in the headlights her game should have been over at that point. Then she declared 'I'm happy with this ball' - which offered no reassurance and as good as admitted it was the steal ball. Ella however, recognising the kindness and naivety of her opponent, made a killer ultimatum - an emotional blackmail to change balls and make Michelle to the villain if she agreed to the change and it turned out to be the steal - Michelle wouldn't be able to live with herself and would rather risk losing the money than besmirch her own good character. I feel terribly sorry for Michelle, I guess nice people do lose.

You can see at 1:12 Ella, not wanting to engage in eye contact, takes a short look at Michelle who I'm sure would have looked back at this point, hence Ella quickly looks back at Jasper and realises she forgot to smile so plasters one on late. The only plus I can give Ella is that she spoke well when telling Michelle her story. However, the slip up from Ella when picking up the ball she claimed was not the steal ball was truly fascinating. Like a rabbit in the headlights her game should have been over at that point. Then she declared 'I'm happy with this ball' - which offered no reassurance and as good as admitted it was the steal ball. Ella however, recognising the kindness and naivety of her opponent, made a killer ultimatum - an emotional blackmail to change balls and make Michelle to the villain if she agreed to the change and it turned out to be the steal - Michelle wouldn't be able to live with herself and would rather risk losing the money than besmirch her own good character. I feel terribly sorry for Michelle, I guess nice people do lose.

Given that they both knew it was the steal ball, why not threaten "I'll swap my ball and we'll both get nothing or you swap and we both get £15,000". There's no way she can decline that and she'd have had to split. Not saying this small, obvious suggestion is somehow an incredible spot but a little thinking on the spot would've gotten her £15,000.
