Hey thankyou! That's awesome that you clean the house to it! 😆 this track always made me feel like shit was getting real in the game, the difficulty definitely stepped up a notch.

Best sounding Train re-recording I've ever heard and a really smooth and seamless transition into Train X. Glad you stuck to synth-guitars rather than live recorded guitar. I think that harsh sound is part of what makes some of these pieces what they are.
@mattspence13379 ай бұрын
Hey, I appreciate that a lot! Thankyou 😁 yeah I decided that would be best with the synth guitars. Only tracks i used my own guitar for are Runway, Title Theme and Surface 1. With Surface 1, I felt that the guitar part fit better at a higher octave rather than the lower octave synth guitar.

I like this theme, one of the better ones, I mean they are all really good but yeah. Being subjective not sure I like the longer intro here. Get what you are going for but doesn't do it for me. It's fine but if I'm giving feedback I feel it's better for you to hear both positive and negative as most people find that helps. Thing I remember about this level is shooting Xenia and Alec through the walls with weapons that could pierce them and hear them get hit behind the wall :D. When replaying this on the rerelease I wasn't aware that you could walk into the room with Ouromov and line up a better shot to hit Xenia so Natalya has enough time to get the password on 00 Agent. Younger me thought I simply had to be quick enough to shoot both without hitting Natalya. Anyway looking forward to not (but totally is) jungle ;).
@mattspence133711 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for the feedback, it is always appreciated! I look forward to your comments cause you always give a little insight to your experience with each level. I also didn't know about entering the room to line up the shot until only a few years ago 🤣 Oh yeah, how could I forget Jungle. 🤔😏
@Peachrocks511 ай бұрын
@@mattspence1337 Indeed... I mean it's not like jungle has a theme in the multiplayer game and it's not like we haven't talked about this already. Glad you look forward to my random insight. I also did my own personal tier list for how I rank the original songs. Train, Streets, Bunker 2, Statue (yes I know) are on the top.
@mattspence133711 ай бұрын
@@Peachrocks5 that's a pretty good list tbf. What do you think to Control? In the film, they got John Altman to create the music for the tank chase scene, but if you listen to Éric Serra's original track A Pleasant Drive In St. Petersburg, it has a lot of similarities to the music in Control.
@Peachrocks511 ай бұрын
@@mattspence1337 It’s good. I think I put it in the middle. It’s more that there are a lot of great ones that the good ones rank lower. Even the ones at the very bottom are still decent.

@@mattspence1337 He's one of the original composer for Funimation and DBZ in the US, throughout the 90's and early 2000's he's known for rock and techno type style and many love his work for it's unique flair. Many like myself grew up with DBZ in the US. He also uses some of the same Synthesizers that Perfect Dark and Goldeneye used in some tracks. Your covers are so amazing in how they ditch all the heavily compressed samples of the original yet they still retain the punchyness I love the originals for. Outstanding work! I have two questions: Where did you get the orchestra hit samples from? And is it cool if I use some of your tracks in this Goldeneye video I'm making atm? With credits to you ofc
@mattspence133710 ай бұрын
Hey thankyou so much. That was my goal when recreating these, I didn't want to take away from the originals. This is why it's taken me so long to do this soundtrack, finding the original uncompressed samples is a real chore sometimes, in certain tracks, I've had to just create my own sounds and try to get them sounding as close to the original. The orchestral hit sample I found here, it took me ages to find this specific hit, i believe its the original uncompressed samples, or if not then its as close as. samplefocus.com/samples/impact-fx-orchestra-hit You get like 5 free credits to download samples, but it doesn't cost much for more credits. It's actually a really good website for samples. I also use a company called GhostHack for other samples. They always have crazy deals on sample packs. Yeah of course you can. I appreciate you asking me. Yeah feel free to use them! Thanks again for listening.
@Bas_Brand10 ай бұрын
@@mattspence1337 well, you did it man, that's for sure. I was wondering wether you were hunting down the original samples they used before compressing them for the game or used your own/close enough sounding ones for this as well, cool to see it's both. Sometimes you gotta be crafty. I once downloaded a bunch of old emu proteus soundbanks to find some uncompressed samples, which I did successfully with some. was neat, and only makes me appreciate this work all the more. also thanks for the links and tips, I appreciate it! I was looking for a nice sounding orchestra hit for a while now, but all the ones I found didnt quite sound the way I wanted and making my own with a virtual orchestra yielded kind of shitty results. I suppose I don't have the required post processing, mixing and general audio design knowledge and skills for that. So having a readily usable sample is dope
@mattspence133710 ай бұрын
@@Bas_Brand yeah the Proteus soundbanks are great, I started there first cause Grant Kirkhope said in an interview that's where he got the infinite 1 "GoldenEye Bond" sound from. Hey no worries, glad I could help. Yeah that specific Orch hit just has the punch that others lack. I did the exact same, trying to recreate an orch hit by layering samples of other orchestral Instruments. It kind of worked but wasn't exactly what I was after, I didn't scrap that idea though. Instead I used my own orch sample for the stabs on the main title theme for the game. Thanks again and enjoy putting that sample to good use! Let me know if there's anything else you want to know!

@mattspence1337Ай бұрын
@GeneralSeptem I can't say I know his stuff that well, so no unfortunately. It was just a patch that I created in Serum. I was trying to make it sound like a train speeding down the tracks.
@GeneralSeptemАй бұрын
His song Initiation has a similar sound at the beginning but he uses a guitar through a ton of reverb, it's pretty cool to watch. It also sounds like a pounding heartbeat, which is pretty accurate when about to play Train lol
