Have you considered seeing if you can obtain a 5 or 10 pound CO2 fire extinguisher. Discharging said extinguisher in the rat hole is likely to encourage Templeton to seek other lodging. Mark Fay

You could substitute a dry ice chunk. That might be easier and cheaper to procure than an extinguisher.

What a beautiful new baby! Seeing the horns on those ladies made my head hurt. I caught a bison horn 2.5 months ago (although the headbutt was the most painful part) and the damage was serious enough to earn me trauma surgery. And I was on my side of the fence! Definitely keep a back off stick on you at all times. You really do not want your scalp opened or even the headaches from a headbutt. I can't wait to see your new babies all running around, finding ways to annoy the grown-ups. It's my favorite time of year!

Others might have already commented on the "after birth" situation, but bovines are classified as having a delayed deciduate placenta (techniquically: cotyledonary, epitheliochorial and delayed deciduate placenta). "Delayed" meaning placental material is shed hours to days after birth, so most likely the animal walked out into the enclosure and shed the tissue there.
