I think you are one of the few instructors who gives functional advice. Often we get "paint by the dots" type of instructions where to be and how it looks, but you give "why's" and connect it to natural movement. Thanks.

working on this presently. I'm doing the "push and squat drill". As in push hands back at the top of the swing and simultaneously squat. it helps with a number of issues. It keeps me from pulling on the club from the top, helps get a bigger shoulder turn, deeper hands and getting the club shallower. It also helps with something I don't hear a lot of instructors talk about which is "fire late". I used to expend too much energy early and hit at the ball instead of through it with a more effortless finish. Adam does a great job streamlining the information and reassuring viewers that this stuff ain't rocket science.

I've always had problems making enough shoulder turn. I do turn my hips enough. My backswing has been trail side dominant and my downswing lead side activated. A recent swing change has been to focus on turning the right and left side shirt seams simultaneously to get the chest turning more and on plane, while doing both the backswing and downswing... What a transformation! This fits in with your swinging 3 clubs demo. Two sides are so much better than one when swinging anything, especially if it's heavy and any club at speed is heavy. The squat seems to happen very naturally, as does the shoulder turn, after making this change.

Hi Adam, your videos are absolutely incredible. I’ve recently been getting back into golf after shoulder surgeries after not playing since I was a teen and your instructions have become the basis I use to try to train. I had a question I wasn’t sure has been addressed in a video before. I’m 6’7” and struggle with lower back pain and pain in my right hand. I try to focus on good posture, but sometimes it feels strange and I feel like I’m leaning over too much, even though that’s really the only way I can consistently keep myself low enough to make good contact. I was wondering if you have any advice for overly tall golfers? I love the sport, bought my first club set as an adult and go to the local range once or twice a week. Should I go less to minimize pain? Is there anything I can do? Thank you so much for your content!

Thanks for the kind comment. I'd say a good custom fit for your clubs would be the main thing, it might help you achieve a posture that's easiest on your back. I hope this helps. All the best, Adam

Hi Adam. When straightening/turninge the body again after having moved "into the ground", does the upward pressure come more from the left/leading leg or the right/trailing one? My left leg is sort of damaged after a bad surgery, but what I remember from the feeling before the surgery: 1) the leading leg in that phase sort of brings the hip up, 2) the right "turns" the opposite side with its pressure. How would you describe energy and pressure distribution and rotation/upward movement responsibility in the swing phase? thanks a lot!
@Scratchgolfacademy
@Scratchgolfacademy 3 жыл бұрын
Andreas, I don't think each successful player does it exactly the same. That said, force plate data shows that by impact most top players are at least 80% on their left side, so you'd be pushing up more off the lead/left foot. All the best, Adam

Should the chest just move down or are you bending your knees to bend?
@Scratchgolfacademy

I’m increasing spine angle, not knee flex per se. You might find there is more pressure glutes and quads. There is some room for personal preference

@@Scratchgolfacademy Thanks for your prompt reply, much appreciated. I am 67 years old and am in recovery of a broken humerus just below my left front shoulder socket. Needless to say recovery and physical therapy have been very slow. I’m not giving up even though my game may be permanently gone. When you can’t turn, it’s hard to hit the ball out of one’s shadow. I’m trying to move different muscles to make a turn without much success. I am attempting to be a right side hitter instead of a left puller. However, I love the game too much to quit.

sorry you are totally missing this, you are on a tilted plane so the "squat" is only an illusion of the hips rotating around the spine, a squat is "lower"..personally I think you have too much hip tilt like most players...if you stand more erect it's easier to turn
