Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This video has really helped my pitch shots and also really helped improve my overall iron play, because it has forced me to be more compact in my swing.

Hi Jancen. Good questions that I will try and answer in a couple of sentences: 1. I wouldn't worry about bounce angle for these longer distances since the bottom of your arc is going to be past the ball and therefore you'll be taking solid divots anyway. The bounce angle is more relevant for chipping where the bottom of the arc is closer to the ball and there is less torque involved. For this reason, you can have good amount of shaft lean. 2. Quiet legs for pitching controlling distance with torso rotation and length of swing. (also trajectory).

Hi Paul. There are too many possibilities to include in a useful coaching video but may I suggest a few things to check if you are still fatting your chips: Ball position - Is your sternum in front of the ball at address? - Your impact alignment as per the impact videos in the app - Do you keep your pivot moving through the ball? Are you trying to lift the ball or drive it forward? Keep at it.

I was taught to pitch with the ball in the center of a slightly open narrow stance, weight 50/50 and with the shaft held vertical to employ the bounce of the club. I was told that the weight forward and club shaft forward were used when chipping rather than pitching. It seems to work for me.

Hi Terry. Thanks for the call for Andriod version; always good to get feedback. It is on it's way but it is a lot more expensive that one would think. A whole new set of coding as I understand. Also, the Andriod market is shown, historically, to be less popular with app users. I think this is changing and time I looked at this development.

Your app was the first golf tuition I ever had on a mobile device, back when I was an Apple user, and I loved it. Haven't used their products for many years though, but I'd love to get EGC on my Android. Can't see it though. Is it impossible (or just impossibly expensive!)?

@@JeffJefferyUK I did create the app for Android but not enough people bought it to make it viable to keep running. It costs to keep up with the platform updates. Shame.

@GolfCoachDrNoel

Hi Jancen. The 5 to 10 yard shots I would classify as a chipping action, even if they are higher shots. There is a 'chipping with your wedges video' on my YT Channel and another 8 chipping videos on the Everyday Golf Coach app. Good luck.

Is it better to have a forward shaft lean than to have a neutral shaft position at impact? I'm just thinking about its effect on the bounce angle. Also, how active is your lower body in controlling the distance? Is it less active compared to full shots?

New to golf: Is it vital to have your hands placed in front of the ball with every wedge? For distances 30 -100 yds, do you still have to have your hands forward? I really like this video.

Hi Ed. Thank you for your question. My stance maybe a little open on the shorter pitches but only to facilitate the hips turning through. As I get closer to the full swingI would be more square on. The face is always square since the bounce is not a factor as it is with a chip. Manipulating the bounce angle is to be discussed in an up coming video.

Excellent lesson. If you really put in the time, you can get excellent at these shots. 3 years ago I put 5 wedges (PW, Gap, SW, 60*, 64*) in the bag. I'm not a big hitter; a huge drive for me is 250 yards. My index is down to 7.4 because of those wedges. You should be practicing 10 wedge shots for every driver you hit on the range.

Along with weight on the left, a slight more tension in your left grip is vital. Never shy away from practicing strong and weakened grips of the left hand. It can help immensely.

paul hughes Hey Paul ME ALSO!! What helps me is the practice range and being firm and aggresive threw the shot, keep the weight on your left side always, leg's quiet just move your hands and arms head down untill after impact! choke up 1/2 way on the club too a hair more for more control, keep your head steady and light the match crisp disending contact.

Thanks guys. You are dead right about the acceleration (1:25-1:34) It must be with the body motion before arms. If the body "stalls' and the arms take over then striking becomes really messy. Keep a committed body motion through to the finish. Thanks for watching.

1:20 "L shape...It's absolutely crucial that you are committed, and the club and your body are accelerating confidently through to the same shape on the other side...Waist and chest are facing forwards." Just taking some mental notes.

For me these shots are more controlled by feel rather than measuring how far I take back the club. Honestly Couldn't tell you how far back I take a club, but inside 100yds is by far my strongest part of the game. But to your point, if someone doesnt have a feel for those shots, it would have to be a good place to start.

For me the best way to approach pitch shots is to know three shots with each wedge, which will give you 9 different shots with lengths that overlap so that you can select the best ball flight depending on the situation
