In my younger days i dreaded putting. Would be on a par 5 in 2 shots and dread getting to the green having to putt. I hated putting. But, i figured out that your generally not good at something that you don't like to do. My solution- learn to love putting. Bob Rotella's books along with learning how to practice really helped. Learn to love putting if you want to improve.

Played with someone with the yips and then contracted it. 3 years later, I still have it, on all lengths of putts, and I am the least stressed person, 50 putts a round doesn't bother me. Long putts are the worst.

Where you all go wrong is you do not apply common sense. When you miss a long putt you have an excuse. It was speed, break, and etc. But when you miss a short putt it is for one simple reason. The ball did not start out on it's intended line. There is no excuse. You have a bad stroke. That is when the moment of truth arrives that nobody wants to face up to. The problem is solved by learning how to putt. Almost NOBODY wants to take the time to do that. It is not easy and takes hard work. Things are further confused by timing and by luck. Sometimes timing is there and most times it is not. And some days you are lucky and some days you are not. Then if you happen to use a SBST stroke it is all luck. And if you do not release, you need timing which is rarely there when you want it. You can think it is all brainpower until you are blue in the face. But in the end you have to learn how to putt.
