I’ve been thinking of getting this good for my mk7.5 R. My biggest worry is fitment though. I want to color match the hood the color as the car too. I like the sleep look. The R just doesn’t look that aggressive from the front. Getting this hood could help a lot
@drivenbyboost4 жыл бұрын
Krisprz Garage the hood definitely added the aggressiveness that I wanted from the car, it was too understated for me and this really brought the front to life 💪

Love the seibon CF hood. I am going to order the same one next year....
@drivenbyboost4 жыл бұрын
You won’t regret it, the build quality is top notch 👍
@AndTheBassDrops4 жыл бұрын
This pains me to see... 1. Seibon do not make “full carbon fibre” parts. This is ABS with a carbon sheet laid over the top you can clearly see the underside isn’t carbon fibre 2. You should never use a gas strut bonnet lifter with a carbon part, these are designed to lift considerably heavier steel bonnets and will deform carbon fibre over time 3. Always run hood pins with a carbon bonnet, atm your bonnet has the force of a gas strut designed for steel pushing up on it and all that’s holding it down is a few screws into ABS plastic... asking for trouble

Just a thought.. would you recommend maybe getting a weaker gas strut? That would probably help no?

You ever think about getting the hatch as well?
@soberenyia2 жыл бұрын
I just bought a carbon fiber hood. It fits my car but the problem is it wont close maybe because of the springs are just too tight and the CF hood is too light. I wonder do you have the same problem when you first got it?

How long was the wait for one ??? Sick car

Do you recommend hood pins? Is there any place on the golf r you could add pins? I have heard of CF hoods flying open when racing with no pins.

Hey I have a question, I've been looking to get one but I'm trying to see what other people do first to get an idea. On ECS it says the hood needs hood pins, is this true??
@drivenbyboost4 жыл бұрын
Definitely recommend some hood pins. Watch my video racing the mustang and you’ll see the hood pop up a little

Can you link me to a standard body-matched black aftermarket hood that would fit a 2019 Golf Comfortline? I just want some aggressive lines like on the new Jettas lol :)

3 things: what is your wash method for the colder weather/snowy/salty roads? Did you put the clear coat on or does it come with it? This is probably the nicest R I've seen. Subbed!!
@drivenbyboost4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brian! I’ll be getting it ceramic coated soon and the carbon fiber hood comes with a clear coat already on it. For snow and salt I usually wash it indoors if I can. Start with the wheels and then clean the body top to bottom. I use a pvc pipe with tiny holes attach to a hose connection to gently wash the undercarriage. When I’m all done I use a spray wax to finish it up.
@bnanderson1174 жыл бұрын
@@drivenbyboost awesome! Thanks for the reply and damn that's a good idea with the PVC pipe. Can't wait to see more vids!

Do u have any small white oxidation/cloudy sections on the carbon fibre hood at all after 6 months of ownership? I’ve noticed my OSIR carbon fibre wing on my MK7 R has some cloudy patches on it, I’ve polished them out in the past and they reappear overtime, very odd
@drivenbyboost4 жыл бұрын
No sight of white clouds or signs of oxidation. If you live near salt water maybe that could be a factor?
@antonyv81714 жыл бұрын
Driven by Boost definitely do not live near salt water, could be the quality of water when washing? Who knows. I just know it’s removable with polishing but it returns inevitably... hmmm
@drivenbyboost4 жыл бұрын
Ohhh it could be the quality of water, if it’s well water or is high in minerals, kind of a pain but glad to hear it’s able to be cleaned off
@antonyv81714 жыл бұрын
Driven by Boost wouldn’t I then have the same issue all over the car? Funny that it’s only on my carbon wing that I get the white clouds.... weird. Could be something to do with the clear coat on the wing? Who knows!
