Body mechanics means the body and arms want to turn so if you bend over and let your left elbow take the same line as your wrists it will stop your wrist rotating. That is putting with your left elbow pointing down your through the Stoke. Press your stomach from the inside against your belt buckle and it will isolate any leg or hip movement .muscle tension has to be right for distance feel lightly gripping for better feel down hill lighter grip up hill tighter grip. Use De Chambeau's method ie hold your putter infront of you over the ball the other end over the hole then move it according to the break so you identify the line,pick a mark or spot 2 ft or less aka bowling alley style where you take aim at the markers at the begining of the lane same in golf get the ball starting on the right line it is going to stay on that line. Feel is most important the right tension so you don't over hit or under hit. Practice putting try not to putt from the same place twice change more times in the real game no two puts are the same.

Fun fact, I once viewed an Asian lady in her mid 20's at a practice putting green in Ca. I was on the putting green for about 30-45 minutes, then I went to the chipping area for about 30 minutes and then I went to the driving range for 45 minutes. The ENTIRE time I did all that, she went around the putting green with only 3 balls and shooting 3' and 4' putts. Over and over and over and over and over and over again. I'd say for at very minimum 2.5 hours. I went up and asked her why she was putting from such short distances. She told me she was a professional and that was where the money was in putting and making sure she can make those putts no matter what without even trying. I was shocked.

Being automatic with those three and four footers is critical to regularly getting up and down from off the green as the pros do. There's a lot of learning to be taken from your comment, so thanks for sharing that valuable lesson! (And kudos to you for even spending a half-hour on the practice green. That's far more than most do!) Tom

Some folks have vision issues or line problems due to wearing glasses. There is a distortion as to where the real line is due to wearing glasses. This causes me to miss it on the right side consistently unless I aim left of the hole and trust that my vision is not seeing the correct line. I have tried to use intermediate target and that works as long as don't lose the spot. It's real easy to lose the spot though. The only other thing that has worked for me is drawing the line on the ball and lining it up to the intended line. That works.
Tom, I'll just say a few things: A) I've never had a put on my home course with a green as flat as your carpeted floor! I say that, because most of my trouble with short putts are: 1) How much break is there in this putt? 2) How much break do I play? and 3) How hard/soft do I hit the putt based on the break? Also, B) Please take this as a compliment and not an insult: I definitely like your golf shoes better in these older videos, than the ones in your more recent videos, but that's just my OCD kickin' in! 🙂 What's most important is that I am a SagutoGolf subscriber and watch ALL your great videos!

@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
The putting grip is a highly individual thing. It’s all a matter of what feels good and performs best for you. If you are referring to how to grip it, then have some fun at a practice green experimenting. If, on the other hand, your question is about the grip on the putter, visit a golf shop with a variety of options and….have fun experimenting! Me personally? I really like the big Super Stroke grip on my custom-fitted Edel putter. Tom

Great tip Tom you are fun to watch!.. and this is a Kenny Powers (real name) putting alighment tip: I've known this for a long time, but standing to the side of your putting line can create an optical illusion where your perspective results in a slightly closed or open face. To alleviate this I move the putter slightly closer to my feet or further based on the way my practice putting results. I sometimes have a friend line me up before I putt until the line appears straight and my practice strokes result in a true straight stroke.

I see how not keeping the clubface square and keeping the hands very quite is the best thing to think about when putting. The only thing I use to show me if I'm putting straight is by using gray's golf. It's a long steel piece that I use on my indoor putting green. It's a good thing to use before going to play to make sure your hitting the ball with a square clubface.
