Hey Tom, thanks! Due to you I've come up with this acronym that can be used as your main swing thought. You can actually walk your way through the swing by making sure your Weight is forward, you start the swing by Tilting your lead shoulder down and at the ball, and then while you're doing this, especially at the top of the swing, your Bicep is attached to your chest. Then the downswing is you simply trying to turn your shoulders and Sweep the ground with the palm of your hand, which means you're keeping it in an extended position. It works great. W.T.B.S. - "Weight, Tilt, Bicep, Sweep" Or, Wonderific Tom's Bodacious Swing! Weight on the front at setup Tilt your left shoulder down and point it at the ball Bicep stays attached with palm pointing back Sweep the ground with the palm of your trail hand through impact

Saguto Bro! I just had a crisp round this past weekend at the Tradition Club and was looking around for you to say hello. Anyway it's the first time we played it and we loved it. You've got a great spot down there ;)

Another good video. This channel keeps delivering. Quick questions. With driver does it require less shoulder tilt compared to irons? If it does how much less shoulder tilt when we start the backswing? Thanks in advance.
@SagutoGolf2 ай бұрын
I appreciate that and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content is continuing to resonate with you! With regard to your question, rather than try to complicate things with varying degrees of tilt for different clubs, if you just use Arnold Palmer's favorite tip - point the lead shoulder at the ball in the backswing - that automatically accounts for differences in shaft lengths without the need for any additional thought! Tom

Absolutely, John. I am simply doing my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, it is important to understand that the lessons on this channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my KZbin content. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Thanks, Tom

You can get even more distance by learning to transfer weight properly from the back leg to the front leg and pushing down into that front leg and sending the energy out and through the ball. And the hands going higher than you think on the back swing. If you look at the longest drivers they have one thing in common and that’s they’re hands being really high and away from the ball as much as possible
@SagutoGolf2 ай бұрын
The need for a “weight” shift in the golf swing is one of the greatest fallacies ever taught, and it has led many an amateur golfer into the vast abyss of chronic inconsistency and frustration. In fact, here is Jack Nicklaus on weight shift: "I don't believe in a lateral shift," says Nicklaus. "Of course not. I believe in staying on the ball." Asked what he thinks about teachers who advocate a weight shift, he answers, "They don't know how to play." Now, there is certainly an allowance for a transfer of “pressure” into the trail side. After all, we are moving the mass of the arms and club back and around us during the takeaway and backswing. Some like to sense the dynamic pressure shifts; others prefer the feel of a gradual increasing of weight load into the lead leg from the start. However, in either scenario the key here is that we do not allow our mass - and thus our swing center and low point - to drift back at any point. There's no "weight shift"; instead, it's just a gradually increasing load onto the lead side. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful motion. Here's a recent video on this topic for reference: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpuydKuCjKZ-jZY As for the "hands high" move you are describing, this is a feature of a two-plane type of motion that has the golfer taking the club straight back off the ball and then lifting it, thereby setting the arms on a different plane than the shoulders. This necessitates a shallowing move in order to get the club on a good downswing path. What I teach is a one-plane motion in which the club takes essentially the same path back and through, tracing the natural geometry of the inclined swing circle preestablished at address. Pay close attention while you watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top. Taking it straight back is a disconnecting move that puts the hands and club in the "Zone of Uncertainty". They don't know what to do from there. Do they crash straight back down in an effort to hit at the ball? Do they drop down and try to find that perfect "slot" each and every swing? Do they get stuck behind us by overcompensating? In other words, we disrupt the natural geometry of the swing preestablished at address when we force the club out and up - or, conversely, snatch/roll it to the inside - thereby taking it off the plane of that inclined circle. Instead, why not just put them in the "slot" to begin with and preset the ideal downswing path before it even happens?! Anyway, my duty is to inform, not to convince. As such, you will not get any pushback from me if you desire to shift, lift, drop, and/or roll. Instead, I'll just wish you all the best in your golfing endeavors. Tom Saguto, PGA

@@SagutoGolf awesome advice. I think every golfer is slightly different. Right now I’m hitting my driver consistanly between 260 and 290 which is good enough for me. I’ve noticed for me when I lift my front heel up ever so slightly, it allows me to create more turn on the hips and shoulders and that’s when I blast it the furthest although not always the more accurate. @SagutoGolf2 ай бұрын
Hi David, We address the ball stacked shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips one inch towards the target while keeping everything else in place. This presets a little more weight forward - generally 55/45 for the short and mid irons, 60/40 for the longer clubs - while retaining the stacked relationship. While there is certainly content on my channel that addresses this topic, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lessons and drills, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

I appreciate your interest! I had phased out private lessons (both in-person and virtual) awhile back so I could dedicate more time to my online school. I've not yet set a specific date for when I will resume them, though I hope to do so in some capacity in the near future. If you are in my online school please send me a message through the "chat" feature and I will add you to my list to be notified when slots open up. Otherwise, please sign up for my email list at go.saguto.golf/ as that is how I will be communicating updates on lesson options and availability. Also, I do offer a swing video analysis service which enables me to put my eyes on your swing, diagnose any issues, and provide a corrective action plan if applicable. Here is a link where you can learn more about this option: saguto.golf/lessons As for the online school, if you have not yet joined then I highly recommend giving it your consideration as it is designed to get golfers on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, structured, sequential platform. The school is where you will find very detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. The value in terms of what you get for the low price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet. And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water", then my newly updated FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” can also be found at go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that is delivering the referenced results. @@SagutoGolf Hi Tom, Thank you for the reply. I was in your on line course for a year and it improved my swing immensely. I'm having trouble finding the ground consistently. Therefore, my game is inconsistent. I've started being able to hit 270 plus yard drive, straight down the middle but, like, 2 out of 10. The others are all over the place, Some hook, some slice, some I hit super fat. Even when I get a great drive, I can follow that up with a good shot may 5 out of 10. I'm sure it is not hitting the ground consistently after the ball. I was just hoping to get some one on one to get me dialed into hitting the ground properly. I have a bit of a fear I'm having trouble getting past...

@SagutoGolf8 күн бұрын
Hi John, Provided the golfer establishes the critical connection points and structure at setup and has a foundation that facilitates a centered, free flowing motion, the key is to get to - but not go beyond - our body's natural stopping point. This is the point where if we were to try to go any further any or all of the following will occur: 1) the lead arm will bend and/or lift 2) the wrists will break down 3) the lead knee will kick inward towards the trail side 4) the lead shoulder will level out and lose its orientation towards the ball 5) weight will shift into the trail side and bring the low point back with it, resulting in inconsistent contact and unpredictable ball flight. 6) you'll "chicken wing" and/or flip through impact 7) pain, discomfort, and/or possible injury 8) Inconsistent contact and ball flight There is no need to force ourselves to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting our body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues. Instead, we are eliminating the variables that come from being too long, loose and disconnected, and in doing so we are constructing a ball striking machine. If we execute this swing properly we will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that enables us to then harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

I appreciate that, Ryan, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you! With regard to receiving swing information from different sources, please be careful in navigating the muddied, overly-complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. That is not a dig against any other teachers out there. It's simply best to commit to a system - whether it be this body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance method or another - put your blinders on, and stick to it. Hi Christopher, Here are a couple of videos from my channel's archives on swinging the handle: - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oImWdpd_nayriJo - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJyXoouCqLt-ps0 I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of the school, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Would you like to learn some key aspects of the body-friendly, powerful, low-maintenance swing system I teach in a more structured manner? If so, then here is a link to my newly updated FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal instruction method that is delivering the referenced results. @@SagutoGolf understood Tom and you are doing great, I dropped from hcp 20 to 12 this year also by watching your great video’s. I was just thinking you get more power and accuracy when you first make this down movement, closing the window between your right elbow and your right side. This move sets the proper path and engages the body to release the wip power. If you just turn your body and hit, you lose the squad down motion and wip move, if you see what I mean… anyway I do outdrive most golfers already 😋

Unless you are divinely gifted with such a talent I wish you well with that.....😎 Golf is indeed a very difficult sport. But if we can simplify the swing so as not to rely on timing and/or exceptional hand-eye coordination - and we can - then we will be able to achieve consistently great results without having to continuously work so hard. So we put in the time and effort on the front end to build the swing - preferably through a step by step, position by position learning platform such as the SagutoGolf online school - and then we can enjoy low maintenance, powerful, predictable, body-friendly ball striking bliss for the rest of our lives! I'm also a law student but we won't discuss use of copyrighted material. Just a but of fun anyway. Northen England is a unique cultural climate so my comments are totally harmless. What’s the point of teaching the same stuff over and over again? You have hundreds of videos on the following fundamentals that you teach: don’t lift arms, connect arms to chest, keep weight forward, lead shoulder down. I don’t understand the purpose of repetition to keep your channel running. Try doing some course vlogs etc. to keep your content fresh. Every time you upload a video, we know exactly what you’re going to talk about. I am going to join your online school soon just to see if you offer anything different there. Perhaps it will be more focused on the short game, let’s see.
