Hi Matt, I’ve been out practicing on our fabulous nine hole course near Tewkesbury here in the UK and I started to shank my chip shots! This often happens out of the blue and is very frustrating, but after watching this video and practicing in the lounge, I was able to see exactly why this has been creeping into my game and hopefully, I’ll now know how to correct it. Thanks for the video and good luck in your new home. 👍🇬🇧

This is one of the best golf instruction vids ever made. I have struggled with opening the wrists and the club face all my life because that feels like shallowing to me. And past instruction has eluded to that as well. Eventually, I end up back at the shanks as a result. I can be playing near scratch golf and then the shanks come because of what you explained. This video always fixes everything, I've watched it many times since released. Starting today, I'm taking this to the range and engraining it for life. I'm done going from scratch to shank. It's not fun. Thank you for this.

Such a brilliant little nugget of advice! You said a few things in this video that are so true and essential for me and my swing. I have saved the video and made a 'note to self' to watch it once a month which should coincide nicely with each downward cycle I go through in my game which is nearly always because of the points you made in the backswing. Thank you Mr. Short Game!

I’m at home Matt taking notes. Up here in the Northeast winter is not far off. I’m hoping to get as much golf in during the Fall and Winter as possible. I’ve come back to golf after a twenty eight year lapse due to marathon running. I expect to stay with golf now. I may be a little more passionate about golf than marathoning.

Great stuff Matt. Rolling the wrists has been my biggest problem all along and very few have been able to explain the proper wrist hinge so clearly. It's amazing how a face that's correct in the backswing feels completely shut to someone like me who's been rotating it open forever. It's a feeling of "this can't be right", until I feel how much more solid the contact is, how the bounce is used properly, and how my clubhead speed is higher. Thanks!

Matt, great video, you are always making me smile so thanks for that. I was looking at the end of the handle and suddenly the light clicked on about a previous video on bunker shots where you were doing the shiv stabbing joke and about stabbing backwards, I had tried it but couldn't get it to work in practice . But now, having watched this video, I realize that the handle is actually passing the left side and around and then stabs back - all sort of naturally. I'll be out tomorrow doing the bunker stabbing routine and this wrist cock prcatice as well. Great job many thanks. I'm an advocate and keep telling my pals.

Thanks that clearly confirms for me why I have those shanks with my short game until I realize keep the club face facing the ball dummy . Which I have to believe is a big part of my inconsistency with my full swing. If I’m doing it on my short game I’m probably doing it more on the full swing.

Thanks for the tip. I have a question for you that I hope you're able to answer. You mentioned in one of your videos that you got started hitting balls in the net in the back yard. My question is how do you know how well you are hitting the ball. Cause you can't really see if it's pulling or hooking, or in my case SLICING lol. A person can practice and it may feel ok but hitting the ball wrong, or swing wrong. Do you have any suggestions or video or can you do a video. Thanks so much ⛳🏌️🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️

Hi MrShotgame always love your videos. However to be more specific the wrists does first hinge; but, then must revolve naturally to the full completion of the swing as the body pivots back and forth. Even if someone were to delay the wrist from revolving significantly keeping the club head square to the ball though and past impact; the wrist must then continue to revolve at the finish of the swing. Such as what we can see in Arnold Palmer unique swing. The golf club is not designed to swing back and forth like a child swinging on a swing. It is designed to twirl in the air as our body simultaneously pivots back and forth. We do not always sense this happening; but it does in anyone’s great swing. Please highlight if you agree and discover this fact for yourself.

Okay...oddly the first video of yours that helped my game a lot was one on hitting long irons. Since then I’ve become a subscriber and podcast listener. Matt, lots of great stuff...thanks so much. I’m buying into thinking about my swing from the ground up and perfecting (finding that a lot of what I do in the golf swing is pretty ok)...but I’m graduating changes, working on the details closer to the hole...bringing the repetition and comfort level into the full swings. Long story short, it’s working for me. So, thanks again!
