It’s a pity if it was indeed a fib. However the lesson was great and definitely one I can relate to. But we don’t need the gimmicks of a “lucky winner” if that’s not really the case.

I've been using Dan's chipping techniques for a few months with wonderful success. Recently, in a scramble format, I had three 20 yard chips for an Eagle. I made one and the other two were less than 2" away from rolling in.

Dan is an unbelievable teacher- he is beyond that. His ability to transfer his knowledge to a student has no parallel. He breaks down a difficult skill into a manageable task that any golfer can accomplish. He instills confidence thru understanding the technique. Few teachers can do that. His KZbin videos are priceless.

@@Uniprnt most teachers can do that, just not coaches, I spent 4 years learning to do that with hundreds of other teachers, coaches tend to have very little idea about teaching, they tend to be just people who were good at the activity. You're wasting your money paying for a PGA pro

Man I can relate! Hit 14 greens and go low or miss green and make bogey or worse. 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’d miss a green by two yards and have incredible anxiety just walking up to the ball. I started implementing Dan’s 3 release system about a year ago. I practice chipping a lot and now feel much more confident around the greens but it’s taken me almost a year. Chipped in yesterday for first time in forever! Thanks Dan! I think of it like: Practice=science Playing=art Good luck! You’ll get it.

I am Ben through and through. Will take any club other than lofted wedge around the green. Been trying to implement all of Dans tips for weeks. Some practice sessions are very good but others not so. Set up is obviously the issue and lack of chest rotations but it’s difficult without having someone tell u. Trying to pull wedge every time now as no point fighting it otherwise it’ll never improve. It’s a long painful process tho 🙈

As a young person I considered myself to be the best chipper on the planet. I'm sure I wasn't, but I had that much confidence every time I stood up to the ball. Then I got cancer, couldn't play for three years, and when I got back to the course, every bad chip became the norm - chunk, thin, blade. I've tried a hundred different methods, some success, but nothing sticks. I watched Dan reconnecting with Iona Stephen who he taught, used what he had her do, and have been so much better. Mostly it comes down to relaxing the muscles and simply swinging the club, eliminating the "hit." Some good rounds behind me, and honestly, I can't wait to get out and both practice and play, because now I want to chip and get back to being the best on the planet.

Trust me it’s very possible. I’m off 3 and have a very very poor short game at times… what he said at the start is so true - if my irons are “on” and I hit greens or at least leave myself in good spots it’s a good round. Otherwise it’s a mare

Dan, I used to love golf as much as anyone (was a 7 handicap) and then about 5 years ago I got the chipping yips and it ruined my love of the game. It got so bad that I’ve barely played the last 2 years. This video in particular has given me new hope that I can get over the yips and enjoy golf again. Any additional suggestions would be helpful as I start practicing again?

I discovered the fix for genuine yips after giving up, trying again, giving up etc. 15 years of not playing then misery coming back. Lessons, technique, nothing stopped those involuntary leg and arm movements that messed up the chips. Then I found the answer by accident. Alcohol. Play quite a bit drunk and those yips disappear. It's expensive because you can't drive to and from the golf course anymore and booze isn't cheap and you need top ups during the round to stay suitably yip free, but it works. Try it. Your whole game improves with a suitable level of squiffiness. I thought that this was all about relaxation, but it's not. Yips are mental not technique if you are a decent player with decent technique. The booze works to overcome the mental side. FYI, Dan is great. His instructions about using bounce are so right, length in the backswing ball position are spot on. But when you lose control of your legs and trail arm and hands on the downstroke as what happens with us sober yippers, there's only one infallible solution. Mine is bourbon.

2 points from a Sports Psychology standpoint, he relaxed because he swung longer, it allowed him to, it doesn't just happen because he decided to do it. And Dan picked up on the mental skills needed, and then said you can teach yourself???, so we need Dan to teach the technical side but you can make the Sports Psychology side up, wow

Can see my fear of going “to far back” in this kids swing …its weird how ive seen this lesson many times ( meaning similar with dan and other golfers) and i seem to forget half of it when im over a chip everytime 😂

Wide Slide and Turn …. love that My chipping horrors do not occur when I chip off carpet into a cushion… the shot has no consequence… take the cushion away… the mishits start … so annoying.😀

Probably makes 2 to 3 birdies but bogeys every hole he doesn’t hit the green. A few chunks result in doubles.

Awesome video! Isn't he a little too fast and quick also though? Taking club back too fast and transition too quick? Seems like if he could slow down the backswing some, then it would get longer and more flowing naturally with better rhythm. Just curious because I know Dan is the man and I am not. Lol

Try not to ground the club at address - that makes the hands and arms feel lighter and a little less likely to grab the club in the downswing- Do not try to avoid the ground !

Man what a terrible student. He barely listens to Dan. Almost doesn’t change anything. ‘Rotate the chest thru the ball’ proceeds to not rotate at all. Loose hands bigger backswing. Doesn’t change a thing
