I found swinging a nice short frisbee throw straight down the target line helps a ton on the choked down shots. It’ll stop you from pulling. Just throw a frisbee a little more right at the target during your practice swings. It’ll start turning into throwing darts. LEFT hand dominate with one practice swing, then RIGHT hand dominate with another practice swing. The accuracy will fall into place.

Glad you figured it out. I've hit 93 last year. First year golfing. Now into my second year. After a winter layoff, I've been out a few times and hitting 98 and 100. Definitely waddaplaya has influenced my golf game. Especially mentally. For practice, Clay Ballard helped me with my swing from setup to follow through. Especially impact position. I can really compress that ball. Cheers to breaking 80 and 75.

@@suryavaraman.4277 I started 4 months ago, had never hit a driver/wood or any iron above a 9 in my life before and that was 20 years previous. I have already broken 100 but am yet to break 90 or even 95 but I birdied a par 5 for the time this morning. :) Although I completely agree with the way of the 'Playa' I am not sure the 'only play the shots you are comfortable with' aspect of it applies so much when you are a beginner? I go for the shots I know I can sometimes make (even though most of the time I don't) because for me it is the best/fastest way to learn. I think their is a danger of concentrating too much on score too early on. I think it's better to just play golf and find out the shots you need to improve on?

I was in a bad place with golf, attitude went in the toilet and I even complained about good shots, basically a real joy to be around. Then after getting on with your channel, I started enjoying the game again, realized that I may not be able to crush the ball 350 yards but I can improve in my putting/ short game. Started working on those skills and I’ve started improving. Mind you, I’ve been playing 7 years and improved rapidly for first couple years and then hit a wall. Went down the KZbin golf instruction rabbit hole years ago and my game got worse. I hadn’t improved in years. This channel made me realize how much my attitude can make or break my round, losing the ego also changed things, I’ve parked the driver and 3 wood is my go to off the tee. I don’t care if I’m not the long dong off the tee anymore, as long as my load is in the fairway. When I play now, no matter how sloppy I am off the tee, I know if I can get close to the green, my short game and putting will bail me out. So thanks amigo, short game and losing the ego reinvigorated my game and I’m finally improving again. Shot my best round at my local course two weeks ago, wasn’t like I was stroking the ball either, I just stayed in play and knew if I could just get close to the green I’d be okay.

Great stuff. I've been embracing this approach this season. No driver. Only carrying clubs that don't cause me stress. Does that mean I have a lot more hybrids? Yes! Does that mean I'm enjoying my rounds more? YES!! And now I'm playing positional golf. I never leave myself any approach inside 100 yds. And my approach game has improved immensely. In fact, now the only difference between a 37 and a 42 is my putting. Unfortunately, my putting is awful more than it is good. To fix that, I'm starting on the putting greens when I get to the range to make sure I don't skimp on my short game practice. Practicing from the green back also makes sense, I guess. I love hitting my driver and it was my most cherished club being able to go out and consistently tag 280-290 yard drives. But that wasn't helping my 20+ handicap when it took 4+ shots and 2 putts to cover the remaining 120-180 yards to the pin. I decided to finally spend time on the short game range and strokes are coming off my scores way faster than just launching driver at the range. chipping pitching and putting made even difficult courses way easier to play and I start to get more enjoyment on cozying a 25-50 yard shot right up to the pin for a tap in birdie or par than a huge drive off the tee.

If I’m chipping well I can still do it. What I’m struggling with is I can’t do things I used to do and greens are out of reach when others I’m playing with are in reach. Hopefully weather will turn and my drives will start going 190-200 yards again. Ito the doubters out there I can still break 80 with majority of my 2nd shots being 3W, 5W. It’s all short game. To the doubters of not being able to get up and down more than 6 times, My buddy shot a 37 on the back 9 with 1 green and 9 putts. If you follow the way of the player even short hitters can break 80

I’m with you Mort… the ideas are great, but the distance chasing is insane for the normal guy. Just a way to get injured if you ask me. I have Junge’s program… and learned to play with the More Norman swing in the 90’s, so I’m completely down with single plane ideas and am hoping that going through Junge’s program this year will be a good refresher. I played about 8 rounds last year for the first time in 17ish years.😄

@@morten3465 that’s great. I bought the lessons stand alone, but I am thinking about getting the subscription for a couple of months to get some good feedback from the instructor, or Kirk… whoever does the stuff. Lol Glad to hear it’s a good service.

I live in S.Korea and golf is expensive ($220 Avg) so I always watch your videos to maximize my game by avoiding hero shots and take simple shots that I'm most comfortable with. Broke 90 first time two weeks ago. Really trying to keep those smooth tempo. Thanks

As soon as I stopped trying to focus on hitting every green and started focusing on my chipping, my score started to drop and I just hit my lowest round of 77 last week. 6 GIR and 7 one puts is all it took. I highly recommend anyone trying to break 80/90 to focus on chipping, it will save so many strokes around the green. Leave the GIR's for the playa's trying to break 70

The biggest thing that helped me break 80 was making sure I was comfortable standing in front of every shot. If the club I was holding scared me when I went to hit, I’d put it back and grab a club I knew I could keep in play. You have reinforced this idea for me, thank you!

Well guys I fucking did it. I shot a 76 today on 5/2/22. After flirting in the low-mid 80's I've finally broken 80 by 4 strokes. No mulligans, every shot counted. Mental game is the biggest thing, making good contact every hit and just trying to make good shots rather than perfect. Your videos speak more to me than any other. I'm not a specific mechanics, move the elbow this way, swing inside yadda yadda, I just need information on how to attack the course and this guy gets it. Waddaplaya.

Regardless of distance, you need to know your game and play the appropriate tees. Everyone should play from tees where they can keep the ball in play and have 160 or less in on a typical par 4. That's a driver for big hitters like me (playa) so I play blues/tips. But there's absolutely no shame in playing whites to shorten the course for your game. This is what affects pace of play more than anything and slow golf aint fun for no one. Love this strategy; know your game. Preach brotha!
@GolfSidekick2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Yet there are people who go out to hopefully break 110 from 6900. Meanwhile they don’t understand that they can do it if they learn to do it from 6000 first

Matt - you're so good at holing out from 3-5 feet. You just rock up and tap it in like it's a gimmie every time. Breaking 80 is always gonna be easier when you have that in your pocket

Brilliant video and I love the channel though I question some of the to plan/not to plan shots. Hitting a 7 wood 230 yards off an up slope to leave yourself a 20 chip would def count as 'to plan' for most people I know!
