I went from shooting 115 to 85 in a month, and am now a 9 handicap about 5 months later. I basically skipped the 90's altogether after i spent 6 hours straight practicing my pitching wedge for all short chips. I am now able to confidently use it for every shot that plays 120 and under and isn't a putt. Even out of the greenside bunker believe it or not. The way of the playa taught me to play my comfortable club, and now I made my pitching wedge that club. I don't normally use any club over 46 degrees, but I keep a 56 in my bag for the rare circumstance that I really need the loft to avoid a hazard or because of strange circumstance. Knowing the club to grab immediately with little to no thought if I'm within 120 really takes a ton of stress off. I just need to work on my tee shots, full swing consistency, and eliminating ALL 3 putts to get down to scratch, but when i have time to practice I normally just prefer to play!

Just won my league and i shot a 37 on 9 holes in the final round, First time I shot in the 30’s. Been working out, stretching, practicing putts ands short game while watching your videos, I think the combination of everything has paid off . 18:50 was supposed to say "4 IRON" for that tee shot. I hit it green-side and then lobbed it over the bunker to about the same distance as the two shots from the fairway previously. I found the same proximity to the hole on the LW from 79, the 8 iron from 79 and the flopper from 15 yards. And the sweeping draw with the 4 iron i courtesy of Robin Matthew Williams ideas for hitting draws and fades.

I just happened across your channel. I like your attitude towards the game. Have fun. Accept that you will hit poor shots. Keep playing anyway. I used to play (poorly, 100-110 on a normal par 72 course.) up until my dad passed 14 years ago. I plan to play my first round since tomorrow. I will try to keep these lessons in mind. I know I will hit many bad shots. I know it will be hot and humid, making the attitude worse. I will try to hit my better shots instead of trying to be a hero when I know 95% of the time, it would result in regret.

Love the content Matt. I think as amateur golfers, I see a lot of my buddies getting caught up in the “pace of play” worries. They get so stressed about pace of play, they don’t go through their pre shot routines or take time to think about course management. Would love to see you address that with the community.

I had a conversation with myself recently about this topic. When I try to play fast and rush my swing, I end up playing slower, cuz I'm screwing it up. Slower swing, I hit more fairways and greens, and play faster.

Great blog. What a playa man. Believe or not I’m more accurate & confident with my driver than using a 2 iron or hybrid, Fairway wood. It’s my favourite club. I was fitted for it which made w huge difference.

That Yard and Metres conversion for altitude is baus! Measuring in metre all the time, but play at altitude, so down at see level can measure and yards to know my clubs distances

Playa can you help? All advice welcome Situation- I've been playing golf for 30+ years. At the beginning I had a massive slice, bad bunkers. Ok around the green. No real distance with any club. I'm now straighter off the tee decent irons good short game can play bunkers (thanks to you) However my handicap has only improved by 2 shots (20 to 18) Should I get more lessons?
