They were both FIERCELY loyal to each other! When jim wanted to leave his own show gomer pyle, the network wouldnt let him break the contract..so sutton told them, hed leave the show, cause he didnt wanna play carter anymore! So they allowed the jim out of the contract...jim then went on to do the, Jim neighbors variety hour and hired Sutton as a cast member! After a few seasons, the network wanted variety hour to be all musical and no comedy, which wouldve meant firing Sutton..so Neighbors decided to cancel the show instead!

Are you so ignorant that you don't understand the difference between an actor and a show's character? That you're not smart enough to comprehend the difference between made up tv life and real life? The character of Gomer Pyle was a straight man with a girlfriend. It's called acting, and your bigoted ignorant homophobia is showing.

Wondered how Frank Sutton, and the star of the show Jim Nabores learned how to match in formation that's a supposedly extremely difficult thing to do. Jim Nabores seems to have mastered it somewhere, Frank Sutton seems to be leading an extremely well drilled team. Where was this opening seen filmed. I thought they used a real Merian base! Do to the marching Sean's.

Frank Sutton was as talented, if not more so, than any actor I've ever seen. His prior roles were all serious, tough guy roles. Then he transferred seamlessly to a comedic role, and and actually blended the tough guy/comedic roles brilliantly! And those facial expressions, that laugh, and that very unique voice. Can anyone name an actor who could have matched it? I can't!

Leslie Nielsen. All sorts of TV and Movie Heavies and Leading Men heroes for awhile until he played a General on "MASH" in 1972. The great sitcom was produced by Gene Reynolds among others. He and Jim Nabors of course were part of the immensely talented "Andy Griffith Show" ensemble. Bringing it almost full circle, many years after Nielsen's breakthrough in 1980 with "Airplane" he played in a satire of James Bond movies. The "Supervillain"? Yep Andy Griffith!😂B.W.
