In this episode of Dirtcheapdaily, Aaron picks up a new Subaru Forester for a steal! The add was fishy, so it was worth checking out.
**Disclaimer on the ATOTO head unit**
it frequently malfunctions. - when you turn the car on, it often takes the head unit 30 seconds to a minute and a half to turn back on. Pretty inconvenient. Customer service was super helpful right out of the gate, but they went silent after being unable to fix the issue. It's been over a month since I last heard from them.

Change oil and filter? Nah, just gonna pour in motor treatment followed by frozen oil stabilizer.

lol. who wants to watch me change the oil? This episode was already too long so the other standard maintenance didn't make the cut

Yeah, what? I assumed after the sea-foam treatment he would change the oil... nope just throw in stabilizer??

Good buy Aaron and congrats on the new digs. I feel your pain on the cold. Went from 90f in Dubai to a new job just north of Winnipeg at -42f (without the windchill) in a little over a week. First winter back in Canada in 6 years...it sucked.

Come on man, criticize the radio install but install Supertech oil honey in the motor. Good to see you back on the KZbins. I have that same head unit in my 4th Gen except for it has the touch buttons on the left

Yeeeckhh. It's always fun to conduct some "automotive archaeology" on your new used car! Curious what you paid for it. I just picked up an '03 2.5 XS for $3700 last November as a winter beater, and it's in very similar shape. 188k miles but it had the heads decked, timing belt/pulleys (so mine's clearly in better shape than yours *wink*), water pump, and clutch about 10k ago - it's got a pretty clean bill of health. Unfortunately one of the previous owners must have transported a large dog around in it... I have paw (claw?) holes all over the top of my door cards and on the head liner near the top of the A-pillars... I need to tear it down now that it's warm out - I'm sure mine's hiding all sorts of nastiness too.

For hair I use a brush that you put in a drill. Works great to get hair out of carpet.
@Dirtcheapdaily
@Dirtcheapdaily 5 жыл бұрын
thats actually a really good idea! I usually just use the brush attachment on the vacuum. That usually works pretty well, but with how dirty everything was, the hair was sticking more to the carpet than the vacuum had suction lol

I use a rubber glove (any rubber glove, nitrile works for instances). My brother has two huskies and he uses pumice.

My legacy outback was a very similar sight when I bought it. The guy said he never cleaned the inside in the 3 years he owned it. Gloves were a must.
