I had set out with my Calvinist theology to prove it was a false teaching (silly me) and ended up finding my home in Christ’s One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Thank you Fr. Mike Schmitz for deepening my faith with your passionate and clear explanations as always. This is my first Good Friday since believing in Catholicism. I found God while praying, was overcome with a kind of ecstasy/joy/love/comfort/warmth/dopamine firing off to the point of making my brain feel more tingly/fuzzy than even marijuana. I believe in God and after contextual/textual evidence, much of which you gave, I believe in resurrection now for a week. Now going to mass every Sunday even when busy. The other thing that really gets to me very powerfully about the crown of thorns is the parallel image of the lamb caught for Abraham. It's a lamb, a ram, caught by its horns in a thicket, just like Jesus the Lamb of God, with the thorns tied around His Head. ❤️‍🔥🐏

Fr.. I witnessed something today Easter Sunday and it greatly upsets me. I attended Dawn Mass and while ministers of the eucharist distributed Holy Communion it started to rain. Holy Communion got wet and glued together,. At Mass later the Holy Communion was given out and I watched the ministers trying to separate the Hosts. My daughter told me she got two stuck together so she separated them and gave one to her husband. He hasn't been to confession for years. They don't understand what they are doing and my heart breaks and I don't know what to do about it

I would be grateful for some help. In my uk diocese it has now become not possible to receive my lords body by mouth and only in the hand. Ifind this uncomfortable spiritually and feel this is against the will of Christ? I have no other method of receiving my lords body in the eucharist but by hand. Ihave made known my fears that we are acting contrary to Christ. I have had no response exept from Bishops office who states thismethod isthe only method now being used. Where do Istand with Christ? GOOD FRIDAY, THE DEATH OF CHRIST, AND THE NUMERICAL SIGNATURE OF GOD God planned the death of his Son Jesus Christ to atone for the sins of mankind before the world began as noted in Revelation 13:8..."The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." His death was foreshadowed by Abraham who was called to sacrifice his son Isaac on the spot where Jesus would be crucified 2,000 years later (see Genesis chapter 22). There are many prophecies in the Old Testament concerning Christ the Messiah, but Isaiah chapter 53 and Psalm 22 give remarkable detail of the crucifixion hundreds of years before that event, and before the Roman era that used crucifixion for the death penalty. God overshadowed Good Friday by arranging that supremely important day in history, and demonstrated this fact through the use of His numerical signature with the fulfillment of Bible prophecy beyond all human probability. The number three is God's numerical signature because three is the number that God uses as a witness of Himself as noted in 1John 5:7-8: "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit: and these three are one." God is revealed in the NEW TESTAMENT as the Father (1), whose Son is the Lord Jesus Christ (2), and his Spirit is called the Holy Spirit (3). In this discussion, we will come to understand that the numerical signature of God as it relates to the most important subjects, such as the earth, mankind, science and salvation, serves as an indisputable witness to the Creator God of the Bible. The following examples demonstrate the numerical signature of God, and the harmony of science, history and Scripture. God's numerical signature seen in the triads (groups of three) in the life of Christ on Good Friday demonstrate the sovereignty of God. 1. When Jesus was crucified, there were three crosses on Mt. Calvary. 2. He was crucified at "the third hour ( Mark 15:25)." 3. Three nails pierced his hands and feet. 4. "There was darkness over all the land" for three hours ( see Matt. 27:45). 5. Three Marys "stood by the cross of Jesus (John 19:25)." 6. Jesus died at three o' clock in the afternoon (see Mark 34, 37). 7. JESUS OF NAZARETH, KING OF THE JEWS was put on the cross in three languages: Hebrew, Greek and Latin (see John 19:19, 20). 8. According to the ANNALS OF HISTORY, Jesus died on April 3, 33 AD. 9. Jesus "rose again the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15: 4)." A major fact concerning this event is clear: God decided on what day Jesus would die for the sins of mankind, not men. The Scriptures declare that He came as a lamb to die, but will return to rule the nations with a rod of iron as a lion in power, and as LORD OF LORDS AND KING OF KINGS at the end of the world (see Matt. 24:3; Rev. 19:15,16). The following partial list of facts also demonstrate the numerical signature of God and the harmony of science and Scripture. Science: Knowledge acquired through observation and experience. Note: God, who possesses all knowledge, is the source of knowledge. Scientific knowledge attained through discovery is therefore divine truth. Such things as atoms, molecules, math formulas, tangible and intangible realities, were in the mind of God before he created or used them in the beginning. 1. God made man in His image and likeness as a triune being: (1) body, (2) soul and (3) spirit. " And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground ( the body), and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life ( the spirit); and man became a living soul ( emotions, intellect and will) (Genesis 2:7)." 2. The numerous groups of three in human anatomy demonstrate God's fingerprints and His handiwork as the Creator of human life. 3. The earth, being the third planet from the sun, is a witness to the God of the Bible who created the heavens and the earth in the beginning. 4. Earth and the other planets, whose circumferences are calculated by using the transcendent number pi (3.14...), move predictably with remarkable speed. Since math is a tool that can be used to help understand God's creation, pi expresses God's eternal nature in mathematical terms by using the number three and a non-repeating infinite decimal. Of all the geometric configurations, God most closely associates himself with the circle, the strongest of geometrical shapes. The spherical shape of the earth is described in Isaiah 40:22, thousands of years before modern science: "It is He that sits upon the CIRCLE of the earth." 5. The earth by design is suitable for life in three realms: (1) air ( 2) sea, and (3) land ( see Genesis 1:20-31). The earth was brought forth by special creation according to God's eyewitness testimony in the Book of Genesis. God created time, space and matter. 6. Time: (1) past, (2) present, and (3) future 7. Space: ( 1) height (2) length, and (3) width 8. Matter: (1) solids (2) liquids, and (3) gases. 9. Life on earth would not exist without light. "God is light...(1John 1:5)." There are three major properties of light: (1) actinic (2) luminiferous, and (3) calorific. "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created (Revelation 4:11)."

I think the men who put the crown on Him were hoping to draw Him out and show He was God. They tormented and bullied Him just as Herod did when He put the royal robe on him. They wanted a God. They wanted him to prove Himself. They may have known the stories that were told about Him and wanted to make Him expose Himself. The cruelty was most unusual and extreme.

The Jews have rejected Christ though. Read St. John Chrysostom's Eight Homilies Against the Jews. Of course we should pray for them. But when reading the church fathers, we can clearly see that the Jews who reject Christ are in grave error and are not in any kind of covenant with God at this point.

Pilot tried to avaoid killing Jesus in every way. He had Him scourged so the priests would be satisficed and let Him live. Who on Earth would ever believe that He was God after He had gotten the slapping around of a life time and look absolutely like a fool idiot. Was He really going to go around town telling people He was God looking like that? The priests were doing the work that was ordained from the beginning and insisted on killing Him. When Jesus was brought for trial it was not the first Pilate heard of Him. He knew all about Him.

Father what are you doing you can't receive communion on Good Friday that is a sin but you're acting just like the modernist where I live and that is very distressing to me you cannot give out communion on Good Friday what is wrong with you Jesus just died on the cross he doesn't he's not going to rise until Easter Sunday that's why there's a big celebration I don't know why you did this but I am disappointed and more than disappointed you are leading God's children astray who acted just like my modernist priest not just like but almost just like making people get up go down on their knees and get up it's very disheartening for the disabled you aren't supposed to give out to you Chris I can't believe you
