School is Not trying to make you a good person. It's trying to sabotage your thinking to make you a blindly-obedient-employee. It is government indoctrination. -2×-2 is not positive 4. This is only true to government indoctrinated low IQ blindly-obedient-survile-employees who are kept on a need-to-know basis.

Great points! Learning to wait or stand in line is very important! I have had the experience in foreign countries if you leave the slightest space between you and the person in front of you and the person in front of you, someone will come and squeeze into that place. It is as if you were not even there. lol. This is usually done by men. The women are better about this. Standing at a respectable distance from the next person is also important. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Rebecca. Most English speakers are polite and considerate, so much so that they do not confront barbaric behaviour and so leaving the field unchallenged for really foul behaviour and language, for example DaddysMeat Curtains comments. Unfortunately though, your critics can take comfort from a general decline in standards of decent behaviour.

In english speaking countries, im not sure about other cultures, but if someone you just met or do not know well asks you how you are doing, it is expected you say "fine, okay, or good," no matter how you are actually feeling. You can be more honest about how you are doing with friends or people you know well.

I am looking for these videos because I am moving, and in the culture I move to, it is still the average American culture, not needing to have high standards. However, I want to improve and impress my teachers and classmates, except, I want to use manners, instead of trying to impress by doing cool things. I know the basics and things, but please, if you have any suggestions, I would love it if you replied. Signing out.

So very "back to basics"and so important,actually tells a persons characteristics by the way they speak Mannerisms!
@priscillawilson26345 жыл бұрын
Tells a person's character. Their characteristics are, like, big ears or a loud voice. Good (or bad) manners. Mannerisms are little things you do unconsciously, like rubbing your beard or lifting your heels when you walk.

Take a trip abroad, Rebecca and notice how lovely people are, how better mannered than most in western countries. Why are you setting up "English speaking countries" as different to anywhere. The finest manners are found anywhere but!
@bittybunni11 жыл бұрын
Because it IS different. Something that's considered bad manners in English speaking countries could be considered good manners elsewhere and vice versa. For example, in Japan it is socially acceptable and encouraged to slurp your noodles, but most people here are taught not to. She is not saying English speakers are better when it comes to manners, she is just acknowledging the differences. Manners differ everywhere. This information is here so foreigners can have better social interaction and also succeed business wise. If I were moving or visiting a foreign country, I would try my best not to be rude and to respect their culture. The same standards apply to them.
@joangardiner148011 жыл бұрын
On the contrary, good manners and social grace means accepting other people from wherever, as they are, for themselves, not schooling them to become one of us. We seem to have a terribly arrogant approach based on expecting others to adapt to how we do things. This is hardly paving the way for social acceptance and teaches nothing about respecting others. IMO
