Media is so disgustingly and solely focused on bad events and blaming people/things for it, so what you are doing here, telling people what the world should be proud of, instead of demotivating us with only our and the worlds failures and just simply tradgedies and wars in far off lands whenever they occur and can be reported, is really respectable, and I'd also agree with other comments saying you are underated, because you absolutely are. Keep it up man :)

Hi Sam. These videos do wonders for my mental health. I've found it disheartening how many people do not believe we are capable of making a positive change. You provide tangible evidence to the contrary. The first step to solving the problems our planet is facing is believing that we can. Keep up the good work.
@itsSamBentley9 ай бұрын
Glad to hear that Andrew and you’re right, in every corner of the globe positive change is happening every day it sadly just doesn’t get as much airtime as the stories aren’t as eye grabbing or viral, but as individuals we can do so much, and when we come together collectively, that’s when things get interesting!
@heatherfeathers77899 ай бұрын
This is so true. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed with all the negativity out there, it feels so massive and rapid. But when we see how others are working for good, it helps open our eyes to the changes we can make. And that’s how big things get done. Little by little.

I hope the redwoods in the U.K. don’t damage the existing ecosystem, because they aren’t native and they’re so big that they might keep sunlight from other plants. I like this video, by the way. Thanks for the good news.
@shroomer9529 ай бұрын
This is actually a serious concern. It's the same for Sitka spruce trees in the UK and Ireland, they're very different from local trees and grow much faster, causing a net loss in biodiversity. Keeping with the good news vibe though, there is a constant, even if slow, shift from sitka spruce plantations to native trees, at least in Ireland!

I certainly could be wrong, but I figured I might as well mention it just in case. At 4:43 the shot that you showed (of a empty field being burned) looks like it might have been a controlled burn, rather than anything directly against the climate. I say this because they can be incredibly useful in minimizing the impact of invasive plants, as in places like the vast majority of the united states and likely elsewhere, wildfires were a routine part of ecological renewal prior to widespread human habitation and habitat destruction. The controlled burns, (which may or may not be pictured in the video) attempt to replicate the conditions as a way of killing of the non-fire-tolerant invasive species in an open field or meadow, while allowing native plants to survive and return stronger to outcompete the invasive plants, overall having a better impact of ecosystems as a whole.
@itsSamBentley9 ай бұрын
I did a story about the importance of controlled burns over on my Instagram, you’re right about their importance! The clip was from a stock video website I use that had relevant tags to the story, but will keep an extra eye on similar videos next time!

Another cool thing about black rhinos that I just heard, is there was a surprise wild birth. It happened at a nature conservatory in Kenya I believe. I believe that it isn't as straightforward as just walking away from this Treaty, the Fossil Fuel Corporations who designed this piece of legislation knew that countries would seek to leave before it ended so put in a Sunset Clause of 20 years, so although Britain is withdrawing from the Energy Charter Treaty it takes 20 years for the withdrawal to take effect due to this sunset clause, this clause means that Fossil Fuel Companies will still be able to sue Governments for the potential loss of profits in secret courts. Although Italy left the Treaty in 2016 it was sued by a British oil and gas company for potential loss of profits, the Italian government was forced to pay out €190m because it stopped the company from drilling near Italy's shoreline. As the British Government has given out hundreds of licences for exploration in the North Sea, the government could potentially be forced to pay out for the potential loss of profits of each of those companies if they try to stop the companies exploiting their licences. Tories knew about this but still gave out the licences.

Visual feedback is driving + audio feedback is your favorite song. If you drive long enough the skills required becomes subconscious enough that you can multitask. However, when your favorite song comes on, or playlist.....you will give 80% of all mental resources to remember the words and notes to the song, you even created another you inside your mind singing the ad-libs...so to turn the music down is only giving driving 50% of your attention again, 😂 lol

I just saw one of your videos for the first time think this is a great thing you're doing. The news is full of constant bad news, raging from bleak to terrifying. Every time I've opened by browser for months it's full of stories with headlines tweaked to make them seem more serious then they actually are, about meteors about to strike our planet, imminent nuclear war and the climate collapsing just to name the most common ones. In America the news can sometimes look like something form a disaster movie, when it isn't inciting angry mobs. At best this is done because the news truly believes that keeping the public informed and bad news is more important. At worst it's done for ratings and money. And this of course gives the impression that the world is a terrible place. Corruption, greed, violence, hate and incompetence far outweigh humanity's better qualities. Everything is getting worse, all efforts to fix the world fail, crisis are more intense then ever and even the end of civilization or even humanity is nigh. The news makes you want to give up hope. So I think what you're doing, reporting on the good things, covering not the devastating forest fire but the seedings that sprout in the aftermath, is a wonderful thing you are doing for the public.

As a native Floridian, mangroves are so important and beautiful. Too bad they don't realize until the landscape is totally different. The UK has more redwoods than the US now? That's both awesome and really sad, the California wild fires really did some damage. But like the phoenix, I do believe the redwoods rise from the flames.
