I agree on all points! Always advocate for your opponent, root for them, and help them out if they make a mistake that's obvious and immediate (for instance, walking into your overwatch where their unit will definitely die). If no dice have been rolled and you've made no decisions based on what they did, let them adjust their models if they realized they made a mistake. Always play by intent! I celebrate my opponent's amazing dice rolls and mourn when their dice betray them. No one controls the dice, they will give us high rolls and low rolls when they please.

Play, have fun, and enjoy the hobby. Help the noobs and the salty dogs. Be kind to others and don’t judge those who are different from you. Have a positive attitude. Say what you mean and do what you say. Be generous to your opponent. Learn the rules of the game. Accept calls and don't argue with event officials. Be excited and happy for yourself and your opponent. Hold your head high, even in defeat. Accept the loss without getting upset or blaming others.

I left the hobby recently and came to your channel to say goodbye before unsubscribing when I saw the video on sportsmanship and felt like it was an appropriate place to vent for a moment. I threw out over $1000 in miniatures out of pure disgust with the community I had found myself a part of. I didn't touch gaming or speculative fiction until my late 30s. My educational background is in Kinesiology, and my professional background is construction quality control. My world as an adult has been absolute and zero sum where argument or interpretation results in injuries and property damage. Even the best refereed game of plastic army men is a system of agreements without a physical system of consequences enforcing them. If you lose, you can still blame the interpretation of the rules. If you win, you didn't make physical changes to your environment your opponent was incapable of. Your winning or losing is other people's interpretation. I say all that to say bullshit artists are everywhere, and nothing inherent to the nature of tabletop gaming exists as a filter to them. I was competing in powerlifting before an injury sidelined me for going on two and a half years. My sport isn't without drama, but you can't bullshit the weight, and at the end of the day, you either lifted it or you didn't. The majority of the people I meet around gaming are desperate for me to be impressed with how smart they are while being visibly physically unhealthy. I didn't believe that pretty bigotry was a thing men had to deal with but I've dealt with it at each and every single gaming event I've gone to. You've been cool, I had fun painting that guard army you inspired me to paint six months ago. I'm out.
