I agree sir. Just an excellent pace, intensity, and vibe - and as a hardcore Star Wars fan, it was a slight reassurance that somewhere someone in the mechanism that is the Star Wars franchise understands a little about what (imho) makes Star Wars so great. It could be argued that the film missed the mark - but the trailer seems to know what we wanted to see.

I remember when the Avengers Infinity War trailer came out. I literally watched it back like 5 times - even till this day I watch it - and I still had my jaw dropped. Even for a Marvel movie the plot, theoretically, should be easy to spot with knowledge from previous movies and/or the comics. But the one thing that I like about this trailer is that the plot was pretty well camouflaged (I mean the movie itself had more action then plot but oh well) and the fact that Marvel deliberately changes or hides things in the trailers just makes them that much better. I remember when I watched the Endgame trailer and I thought I knew exactly how the movie was going to unfold and I was pissed. Then I remembered that Marvel is notoriously known for adding unused scenes and changed things so I had hope that what I thought wasn’t true. Back to the Infinity War trailer. Not to mention that the big bad villain reveal was long enough to make it unsettling for those who knew the MCU. Talk about initial impressions. The score of the movie, insane and makes the trailer feel like a mini movie. All and all the trailer made me sooo impatient for the movie and made the movie so much better for me to watch, because of the attention to detail and length that Marvel goes.
@jankyyard56102 жыл бұрын
Using Nick Fury's lines of "There was an idea..." and Thanos' monologue of "In time, you know what's it like to lose..." foreshadowed what will happened in Infinity War but it was hidden so well that I only realized it after watching the movie. And the used of Avengers' theme song into slow and magnanimous orchestral beats compared to its original lighthearted version makes the stakes higher that it feels we're definitely going to a real war - the feeling of hype for guns blazing glory, anxiety of losing comrades, and the bitter taste in the mouth of the tradegy it brought

@Snehil Shrey Ragnarok is exactly what it tried to be. It was a comedy. It had a few compelling moments, and had a story, but mainly it was a comedy. The problem with Age of Ultron was that it tried to have its cake and eat it too. It tried to treat Ultron as a massive, and serious threat, but when the heartless killing machine is making egg puns every few minutes, it takes down that feeling. The difference is mainly in what they tried to be. Ragnarok is a good comedy movie, but Age of Ultron is too scared to go too far into any genre.

I think the trailer campaign for The Force Awakens (all 3 trailers) was MASTERFULLY done. -They didn't spoil anything. Not even Luke Skywalker's story. -They let us know from the get go the main characters were new, instead of trying to trick us into thinking the OT characters were going to be the focus -The music was used perfectly -They even used some lines that were also a message for us fans ("There has been an awakening"="After 10 years, Star Wars is BACK", "It's true. All of it. = Everything we saw on these movies 40 years ago is still relevant in the world") I really REALLY have to thank Disney for the amazing marketing campaign they're doing for this trilogy. It really transforms all the waiting into a part of the experience as well, it doesn't just last the two hours you see the movie.

You picked some fantastic trailers to dissect. Some of my favorites include: 1. The Social Network - Waiting nearly an entire minute to show actual footage from the film was bold and got me hooked (same as the teaser poster was utterly devoid of everything but Jesse Eisenberg's face and a dozen words. I couldn't get it out of my head for days). So much is left to the imagination despite the dialogue and the cover of "Creep" is a perfect pairing. One of my favorite movies. 2. Man of Steel (1st teaser) - The dialogue paired with the music and little footage from the film made me begin to care about Superman. Couldn't really care less about it now, but it was super effective following The Dark Knight Rises 3. Suicide Squad - Talk about an amazing trailer for an otherwise sucky movie. Bohemian Rhapsody was the perfect pairing for the trailer footage. If only the rest of the film had been as good.

I cant think of a trailer more iconic to me than that of Skyrim. Max Von Sydow's narration, haunting dragon chant, AMAZING music, and then a beautiful showcase of the game's environment and variety of gameplay came together for an amazing trailer that I still go back to from time to time.

Infinity War and Avangers Endgame are both two of my favorite trailers. They are not telling you too much: Infinity War e.g. changes some visuals so we could not know how many stones Thanos has already collected. Endgame on the other hand basically only shows you the reaction of the survivors towards the snap, but it hypes me up every time I watch it!
@mrfriesen966 жыл бұрын
The only thing I dont like about the endgame trailer, is seeing Scott Lang appear at the door. Excuse me, you're supposed to be missing. Why are you showing that he's out? It's funny, but shouldn't have been included.

@@mrfriesen96 I think it was a good choice to show ant man at the end. Most people knew he was going to be in endgame anyways, so it would be dumb if they tried to hide him completely from the promotional material. plus, the way they revealed him in the 1st endgame trailer was great, because it told us that his arrival would be important, but it didnt specify exactly how he will affect the story, thus building hype

10 Cloverfield Lane - I watched that trailer dozens and dozens of times and had that song stuck in my head for weeks. Starting with that cheerful nostalgic music and ending with John Goodman frantically yelling “you’re going to get us all killed”. Getting goosebumps all over again.

I remember that the trailer for the Grand Budapest Hotel literally revealed every major plot point in what is a very conventional, linear plot. When I went to see the film subsequently, the visuals showcased in the trailer were so strong that me knowing the plot in advanced didn’t even matter, because I was desperate to see how Wes Anderson would visually convey all the information which had been spoilt in the trailer. The Grand Budapest Hotel is my favourite film.

MrDevinjb the movie was generally a good movie but not like holy shit what a great movie. But that trailer was creepy as hell. I enjoyed the idea of an alien movie that involved almost no aliens. Fear of the unknown is like the most common and primal fear and unfortunately I think the movie just missed the beat at a few points.

My favorite is probably the Godzilla trailer. It reveals very little, shows a visually intriguing intro (the Halo Jump, which ended up being my favorite scene) and obviously that Godzilla screech. The bad part i would say is that it doesn't have music and just relies on that army guy talking. Link to it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5uugGRmnbCnj9k

The age of ultron trailer is my favorite trailer because it really makes the viewer almost frightened of ultron. With the creepy music playing and seeing all the avengers beat up and also frightened of what they’re facing. You see Thor stumbling around unsure of where to go, you see hulk in that blanket scared out of his mind. It gives you a taste of the struggle our seemingly invincible heroes are going through on a psychological level, not a physical one. It doesn’t reveal the plot, gives you a taste of the villain. You also get the sense that this movie is going to have a drastically different tone than the previous avengers film. Even though the movie wasn’t great, this trailer got me hyped from the day it came out.

There are a few trailers that really stand out in my eyes: - Assassin's Creed Cinematic Trailers - Moonlight Trailer (while it does reveal a lot of about the plot/protagonists, it does not reveal the true complexity of each character and moment, making their actual occurrences extremely impactful. It is so beautifully crafted that it influenced me to watch the film when it was release. It remains as one of my favorite films of all time -- and that is a list that I rarely update) - Star Wars Trailers (the final products themselves have been a bit underwhelming, but the marketing is phenomenal) - DC Extended Universe Trailers (DC's recent films have not been fantastic, but each trailer is so wonderfully crafted and edited that I can't help but feel pumped) - Logan Teaser Trailer - Mad Max Fury Road Trailers (The editing, score, and cinematography for the trailer and the film itself is outstanding.)

My absolute favorite trailers have to be at least the trailers for both Star Wars TFA and TLJ, but for different reasons. With TFA I was absolutely pumped with all the nostalgia that it gave off, whereas with TLJ I was more impressed with the trailer itself, in this case mostly it's darker tone, as I am a sucker for a bit Darker scifi or Fantsy movies. Besides that there are a few obvious ones like for example the Logan trailer and the one for Rogue one, as well as a lot of other trailers released in the last few years. I think the most important distinction I make in how I appreciate trailers is the difference between Nostalgia or the hype for a sequel and a trailer just being damn good. Even better when both hopes are met.

Personal best movie trailer: the first teaser for Man of Steel. We didn’t see the plot. We saw a young Clark Kent running around wearing a cape and playing with his dog and it ends with seeing him as Superman shooting up in the sky not really close enough to see the symbol or the actor playing Superman. Best game trailer: Halo Infinite because it’s the classic halo trailer formula. It doesn’t show plot elements or key characters except Master Chief. It just showed off the new engine the game will run on showcasing the beautiful landscapes and wildlife until we see the helmet of Chief’s Mark VI armor and it plays the classic Martin O’ Donnell halo theme.
