I’m so glad you mentioned listening to the plants. If they are pushing out growth fertilize them. They need food if they are growing. If you don’t notice new growth then cut back. Also many other good points that you mentioned. Great video!

This winter I’ve put the aerial roots of my huge monstera in a jar of water. Like that I could reduce the watering because I was afraid of pests and root rott in winter. It worked! Now in spring I’ve cut the tips, which were now water roots. Next winter I will repeat this! 💚

For those using liqui dirt, it’s half a cup of your mix per gallon of water. It makes it easier than pouring table spoon after table spoon. It is definitely an investment but each pouch of concentrate can make 1,500 gallons of fertilizer.

Hi girl! Love your videos! My question is, I've heard everyone say, "Don't fertilize in winter." Does that mean go by the calendar months? Starting in December? Some of my plants are putting out new growth in late October so when I see new growth, I like to give a little fertilizer. Am I wrong?

You can fertilize year-round as long as your plants are actively growing.

You look so good in this video!! Thanks for making something really like user friendly. Lots of youtubers just say, “oh I like this one and this one” and don’t go over NPK. I’m definitely overwhelmed thinking about fertilizing but super excited to get it going, gonna pick up some worm castings soon. I literally work on a horse farm though and makes me wonder how I could go about using all of the horse poop I shovel legit every day. I’d assume I’d have to compost it first which my dad is doing for his big garden. Maybe that will be today’s research for me lmao

oh don't worry, i am pretty sure everyone (including myself) has made that mistake. that's why i wanted to make it as clear as possible. luckily since it's so gentle it doesn't harm the plants if you catch it! i'm not positive but i am pretty sure i saw a video from them that said to use the "mix" straight on your plants but in that video they said to use it only once a month?? i decided to stick to the bag instructions though haha

Off topic from today’s vid, but what are your thoughts on mosquito bits? I had a bit of a fungus gnat outbreak a while ago and when I was researching ways to fix it, mosquito bits kept popping up. (Sorry if you’ve already addressed this in another vid, I just subbed a couple of weeks ago!!)

i've used mosquito bits in the past! i've mixed it into my soil mixture. i think it works a little but you definitely have to also get the sticky traps. the bits will only help with babies so you'll need traps to get the annoying adults.

Yes! I mixed my gallon a couple months ago and I am halfway through the gallon. I use 2 one gallon water jugs. One with the "mix" and then one mixed with water and ready to use to water my plants. It definitely gets easier as you use it more! I love liquidirt !!!!

i do! but i have moved away from that for ease. when i used it, i did spray it all over the plant so that it was fully covered. kept it out of light until it dried. and i did that once every 2 weeks-ish.

it's a bit confusing because technically liquidirt is "a full nutrition system for plants" and is a plant food but not a fertilizer. therefore, it doesn't have an npk but i use it without a "real" fertilizer. on liquidirt's website they break down the npk of each ingredient but don't have an npk of the bottle (as far as i know). as i said, i am still new to liquidirt so if plant food isn't your style, i recommend espoma!
