Fendt just has the European background also it´s more for flat country. A 1050 is like a four track for NA. We can run wide tires at best, duals are an absolute no no in my region. I run an 8R with 710 Michelins on it and already gotta watch out for peoples cars in the driveway. With duals you´d be looking out to not take out their living room. 🤣

@KriegerDelfin242 жыл бұрын
I know it might to be fair to compare farming in different countries and parts of the world but i think the Fendt ist built more for Europe. The 1050 is strong and compact what is important for Europe. It has a great PTO and Hydrauliks ( depends on the pump) and with VarioGrip you dont need Double Tires for the most time. Over here the 1050 runs in front of Slurry Tanks with Striptill or what ever other farming equipment. Construction companys use it in front of Scapers and Halfpipe Dumpers. Also it is used in Forestry in front of a Chipper etc. I have never seen it in front of such a large drill. It is just the wrong application.

Well, don't know about that. When you say 'Europe' I assume you talk about Germany in particular, referring to your slip of the pen with the little word 'ist'. Problem is that Fendt is the Mercedes under the tractors (that's a personal opinion 🙂), and thus quite expensive (ie: not enough horsepower per dollar/euro). And that's really a pitty. We used to use Fendt on the farm in the NL, but pricing drove them literally of the yard.

It was the FENDT 9T and this FENDT 1050 that made me subscribe to this channel,.... If there is more boring JD stuff on the way ..... BUT I understand you Mike, FENDT is the absolute top in technology, and is made for more than just pulling. In Europe, tasks / areas are smaller and more varied, which requires a high level of technique, fast conversion and really fast transport between tasks / fields. I still think the FENDT program has potential in Canada, USA etc. for special crops etc. ... (and the sister, Massey Ferguson 8S and 8700 (soon 9S) have the strong FENDT transmission and cost half of a FENDT + a really strong tractor to)

Mike, always watch your videos first ! Your comments on the vario transmission sound right to me. It is a triumph of hydraulic design and slick operation, but It’s design must have more power loss than a power shift transmission. I hear all the comments about Fendt’s technological advancements and capabilities, but the need for North America is reliable power transmitted to the ground. It’s too bad the Agco sales people oversold the capabilities of the 1050.

This is a question about large farms in general across the US. What is the most common form of finance for large farm equipment? If I were to guess I would expect a lease as most farms today are most likely incorporated or a LLC. I am not asking about your operation, just a question about most farms today. I worked on a 200 acre dairy farm/apple orchard in Michigan through high school and junior college (typically a community College today.) The guy I worked for paid cash for everything. We had a 1942 John Deer 'B' and a 1958 John Deer '60'. Mel had grown up during the depression and did not believe in debt. He was successful and went to his maker debt free and left the farms he owned to his children debt free. It seems to me leasing might be the best tax wise, however in light of John Deer's recent situation, farmers who are also highly skilled mechanics and machinists/welders might have a problem with a restrictive lease. It seems like most farm operations have someone who is also a mechanic/welder/machinist working full time on the farm, likely sons and daughters. Please do not answer if you feel this is none of my business. Thank you.
