I often get asked why I couldn’t bring Buddy to live inside my home and the answer is two fold. The first reason was because of my 2 inside only cats; one of them being a 9 year old feral rescue who was terrified of anything other then me. Not knowing anything about Buddy’s history, I was fearful of what he might expose my kitties too. The second reason (and the top reason) was because of Buddy’s medical history which I learned after an emergency vet visit (blood in his urine). I learned he was a male; about 4 years old, and at some point his previous owner had perineal urethrostomy surgery performed due to a urine blockage. Our medical journey is too long to go into here, but suffice it to say that over the years I had 3 more corrective surgeries performed trying to repair his problem. Basically Buddy had problems emptying his bladder, so when he slept his urine would flow freely out of him right where he laid; and I’m not talking about a few drips of urine. He would wake up with his backside soaked in urine. This would happen every day. No surgery could repair this. There is also a 3rd reason…Buddy was a killer/predator. I don’t know how long he had to survive outside on his own, but he was a fierce fighter/hunter. Unfortunately on more than one occasion I had witnessed him catching and killing healthy adult squirrels. He knew how to use his claws and teeth, and I couldn’t take the chance that he may hurt one of my other kitties. Because of these reasons we could not bring him inside, but we did provide him with a screened in porch for protection at night (you can see him entering his door in the video); and we built him an insulated heated “condo” for the colder weather. I loved him like no other and did my best to protect him and provide a loving and safe home for him. I miss him every day.

Today marks 4 years since I held you in my arms for the last time. I kissed your face over and over and told you how much I loved you and you were such a good boy. Our bond was so very very special. You could never be an inside cat because of your health issues; and even though you could go wherever you wanted, you always came to me when I called. You would lay on the front step waiting for me to get home from work, and then come over to greet me. I am so glad we lived on a private wooded lot on a dead end street where there was little car traffic, but somehow you knew to stay clear of cars. You were definitely one smart kitty cat. I remember our goodbye like it was yesterday Buddy…and still not a day goes by that I don’t silently speak your name. I hope you are waiting by the rainbow bridge to greet me when my time comes. Somehow I have no doubt that you will be there. I love you with all my heart and miss you everyday. 😢😢😢

Bless you for taking care of him those eight years. It takes a special kind of person. You can see from the video how bonded you two were! Sorry he left. We put my dog Buddy to sleep on March 29, 2021 due to multiple medical problems. We were very lucky to get 17 years with him but I still cry everyday missing him like crazy and just can't get over it. II don't think the pain ever stops does it? :(

@@crnxhh83 @crnxhh83. Thank you for watching Buddy’s tribute and for your kind words. After less than one year after saying goodbye to my Buddy, a feral kitten did come into my life. We rescued her from a colony that hung around a restaurant where the restaurant owner was preparing to have a turkey shoot on his property and he wanted the cat colony gone 😬. This young cat was friendly enough (enticed by food) so we could get her in a carrier and brought her home. Now…2 years later she is my lap cat and very demanding when she wants to be petted or brushed 😁. And I still have my other SPCA rescue who will soon be celebrating her 22nd birthday. She is a work in progress health wise, but as long as she has quality of life I will stick by her. Unfortunately the cost of love is the heartache of saying goodbye. Thank you again for watching Buddy’s goodbye 💔😢. Best wishes

Hello there, first of all thank you for sharing the story about Buddy. I cried. He reminds me so much of the pack leader I take care of every day for the last 9 years, a total of 6 cats. The pack leader, Blackie, is a Tuxedo cat like buddy was. Looking at him in your videos and photos one can see he was loved and taken care of. Without you in his life I am sure he would of lived a shorter and less enjoyable life. He looked like he appreciated that very much and rewarded you with his purrs, snuggles and companionship. Don't think he could have asked for more. Be proud of that, just like Buddy was that you were his human. One day, when your time comes like it will for all of us, I am sure Buddy will be waiting for you on the other side of the rainbow ready to have new adventures with you. All the best from Croatia ❤

The title alone told me I was going to cry if I watched, but I watched anyway. All cats are special, despite so many people saying they don't like cats because they're too independent and aloof. These are people that have never really known a cat. Cats can be just as loving and dedicated to their "people" as dogs are. And they are a lot less work. I'll take a cat over a dog any day of the week. I've been lovingly "owned" by eight wonderful cats over the last 45 years, and would not have traded a second of that time. Debbie, please tell me you got at least one cat since loosing Buddy. He would have wanted it that way.
@debbiedel1953 Жыл бұрын
@georgiadavison. Yes, cats can definitely have a very special bond with their owner. For me Buddy was solid proof of that. When you think about the fact that he had total freedom outside to go wherever he wanted (this freedom was due to the fact that with his medical issues he had no control over his bodily functions); yet when I called him he would come running. I believe Buddy’s devotion was his way of thanking me for rescuing him from an early and painful death. Georgia, it took me about 2 years to rescue another baby. She was living with a feral colony whose time on this earth was about to be cut short. She has completely adapted to the good life, and is now a lap cat and sometimes a pain in the butt. 😁. I also have another rescue from the SPCA who is now 21 yrs old. We are dealing with Cali’s hyperthyroidism and stage 3 kidney disease. But just like Buddy’s issues, I will continue with Cali’s care as long as she has quality of life. It’s all about the love you give and receive in return. Thank you for watching and commenting on Buddy’s tribute. Best wishes.

Morning Deb. I’m 56 and had been in prison over stupid addiction issues for over a decade until 2017. A year ago a guy I knew abandoned his two cats, male n female siblings. I only wished to feed and save them. W/ in weeks we were bonded. I took their other recently abandoned brother in 6 weeks ago, and 5 months ago took a kitten “ Luna” jet black in as well. I went from being a cat disliker to being a daddy to all four. Your buddy tribute rocks and made me cry because only God knows what I’ll do when anything happens to one of these babies! They punctually wake me up at three am every morning, whine all day, swarm me on the couch and cry to be fed constantly just like my child would do and I adore them. God bless you and RIP BUDDY, gone too soon!

Well my sweetest boy…today marks 5 years since I held you in my arms and kissed your face for the last time. Watching your video is like remembering yesterday…I remember every moment and so much more. Had it not been for your unforgiving health issues maybe you would still be here with me. You are the first image I see on my phone and my iPad. Do you remember Cali? She will be 21 in a few months and she has developed some serious illnesses that are common for older cats. Meeting all of her special needs reminds me of all we went through near the end…but it’s all about quality of life, and as long as she has that I will continue to take care of her. Every. Day. Buddy…I still miss your love 💔💔💔💋

It has now been 7 years Buddy since I kissed your face for the last time…oh how I wish you could still be here with me. 😢 When I lovingly made this video tribute of our life, I did it for two reasons. First so I could see and relive a smidgen of our time together, and second because I wanted other people to see how extraordinary you were. And wow have they said wonderful things about you Buddy!! They are complete strangers, yet they share with me kind words about you which brings me comfort…and I get to talk about you when most people would think I’m crazy still missing you after all these years. When I said goodbye I told you that I would never forget you…I gave you a piece of my heart and you gave me your precious trust and love. Till we meet again Buds you will have my heart always.

Thank you so much for your very sweet & kind reply !! I watched this again & started crying because I could feel your such tender love for him and his towards you !! I originally watched this when I marathon watched videos & I was sleepy. My brain & eyes are more refreshed now ! Your cat,Buddy was a very agile cat & the way he ran was distinctive & reminded me of a bear cub or a bear !! You know they're fast,too !! It's funny that you mentioned that you regret for not recording his distinctive sounds. I do regret of that ,too !! My late Tiger made a very distinctive sounds whenever he ate !! It sounded like as if he was chewing some soft bones or something. And my other cat ( looked more like yours ) did that once right after Tiger's passing as if Tiger's spirit went into Daniel's body & trying to tell me l" No worries ! Tiger is still w us !! See !? Listen !!" Lol. He never did that .Also he gave me a silent meow which he never did ot before !! Tiger used to do that to me everyday !! And funny thing is now my mom does that when she eats !! Lol. Thank you so much again for this beautiful video !! I could totally get how special your Buddy was & why / how much you loved him & he loved you back the same !!! Amongst all the tribute videos to their cats ,yours stood out so much !! This was like a movie ,yet very candid .🙏💔💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

I can’t express how much joy your words gave me! I made Buddy’s video for two reasons; first of course was so that I could see him again and relive our times together; but even more important to me was that other people could see him and know that his life mattered. With all of the pictures and videos I have of him I could have made his tribute twice as long, but I thought that would be pushing it. Sometimes a special animal comes into our lives and has such an impact on our heart and our wellbeing as it happened with you and Tiger. It is amazing and so very special how Tiger gave you a sign thru Daniel that he is and will always be with you. Their warm love stays with our memories forever. Now…if only the rainbow bridge had visiting hours…❤️❤️❤️💔😪

I bet you can make a series of videos of your beloved Buddy's !! But ,you really expressed your love & fantastic relationship you had with Buddy in just one video ,so beautifully !! @@debbiedel1953 I am now living with 2 cats, one a former farm cat named Bullet (I have some videos of him up), and he needs special care as well. Oddly enough (I don't know why your Buddy needed to be kept outdoors if it was more than psychological reasons) Bullet needs to spend some time outdoors because for some reason he has frequent asthma attacks inside my house but not outside, and I don't want to give him albuterol frequently because he also has a heart murmur and 2 leaky valves and I don't want to give him something that raises blood pressure and heartrate for that reason. But he also has hyperthyroidism so he needs doses of methimazole at specific times, so I can't afford to lose track of him. Fortunately, when he's outdoors, he stays pretty close and doesn't take big risks so it's always easy to find him, he's usually on my porch on top of my recycle bin, or in my front yard. He's 12 and a half years old now, but let's see if I can get him to live into the 2030s at least. His health is a delicate balancing act but it appears it is not one I can't manage.
@debbiedel19533 жыл бұрын
@@medexamtoolscom I commend you for providing Bullet with such excellent care!! I hope you share a long and wonderful life together! To answer your question…when I rescued my Buddy, one of his major medical issues was the fact that he could not empty his bladder. Unfortunately that meant when he slept and his muscles relaxed, his bladder would empty right there where he laid. His back end would be covered in urine, as well as the area he was sleeping on. I did have a screened in porch built with his own access door so he could come and go as he wished. I also had a heated “condo” built for him so he had a warm place for wintertime. Once Buddy came in for dinner, I would close his access door because I wanted to keep him safe at night. The only times I brought him inside my house was to heal from his various surgeries…I would keep him in a bathroom, lay heavy plastic over the entire floor and then cover that with many layers of newspaper. He would use the litter box, but it was never enough. It’s crazy when I think back to all the extra work I did for Buddy’s care, but I would do it all over again if he was still with me. All the best to you, Bullet and your other furbaby. May you share many many happy years of love and laughter.

Tyvm for the video. My cat of 18 years died a year ago, on March 16. I tried to get him euthanized at a vet clinic literally 30 seconds from my house, but they said they could not do it for two weeks. I told him he would not last another 24 hours, but they did not care. I ended driving him 45 minutes away the next morning, and big Norman hated car rides. But he was so weak and just ready to go, he did not put up much of a fuss. I had to go to work and pretend everything was ok after it was all over, and that was a long and hard day. Pets are family and it hurts to see them go. Love to all.

Oh my goodness…i am so sorry…thru your words I could feel the heartbreak you felt from the loss of your beloved Norman; and I could also feel the bond you shared with him. 18 years is a long time for a cat…and a testament to the great care that you gave him. Remember him with a smile knowing that you shared a wonderful life together; and at some point in the future I hope you can open up your heart again and rescue an animal in need. I just want to say thank you so much for stopping by and showing some love on Mango's tribute video. I don't know even where to begin with Buddy because I'm literally in tears. I know without a shadow of a doubt the bond you and Buds had was beyond this universe... and still is. It was SO clear he loved you every second of his precious life. You two were destined to cross paths in this lifetime to look after each other and you did just that. I know the void can never be replaced but just know that Buds isn't gone. As a matter of fact, he's more alive than ever and around you more than you know. The day after Mango passed I will never forget seeing his spirit when I was crying in the living room all by myself. I know it was him telling me he was alright. Mango and Buds are just having some fun until it's our time to cross and see them again on the other side. Until then, I agree with you that it's our duty to honor our little furbabies by helping the most vulnerable, especially animals. Thank you again so much for sharing Buddy's story... he was incredibly special.

Buddy seemed so happy running every where ! Great video ! Harley and I would take long walks through the woods like a dog would. He did fight ANYTHING ( cats, hunting dogs,even a possum ,roosters)in the yard...it was HIS kingdom I use to say. He would holler at me to take walks or even by mid a fire in the stove.He stalked deer and I wondered what he would do if he caught one. He licked my forehead as I slept,purring, he always sought out my coat to lay on.He was stand off to people except me....He was sweet but Hell on wheels..lol he watched me work on stuff...always interested in what I was doing..Watching Buddy I seen the same "wildness"...That made him so much fun ! For a small animal he left a big hole in my heart. I will get another one day...

@@ryanfarmer4691 You were right on point Ryan with the similarities between Harley and Buddy. I have so many clips of Buddy running and climbing trees for the pure enjoyment of it; and like Harley he considered the yard as his domain. Buddy was a skilled hunter (he probably learned that from when he had to fend for himself), and much to my dismay he killed a lot of healthy adult squirrels. I couldn’t stop him from doing that other then warning the squirrels when I witnessed him hunting them. Harley sounds like an really awesome kitty, and you gave him a wonderful life...that’s really all we can hope for. Hold your memories close; and when the time is right to rescue another you’ll know. @@debbiedel1953 Franko september 2018 . Hed been missing a week when he returned home but with horrific tail pull injuries, tail was broken nerves dead at the top near his bottom, vet reckoned not caught in door etc nor bumped on the roads.. but some vile being yanking tail hard with force and swung about. Never felt grief, sadness and real anger like it before, ever. Heart broken.. awful awful time, so hard & took a very long time coming to terms. Remembrance videos are on my channel .. if you'd like to see him. Description below video tells a bit more about what happened.💔On Playlist - My Cats Goodbye my poor wee cat Franko " I will see you again"

@betty blue Easton OMG I just watched your loving tribute to Franco! He was sooo beautiful and your connection with him was so very obvious 😭. The mutual love you had for each other is not always obtainable with a cat, but you definitely had it. I. can. not. imagine how you come to terms with what some vile SOB did to Franko 🤬🤬🤬 I totally understand how you felt a level of anger and grief that you’ve never felt before!!! Just the thought of that cruelty makes me shake and my teeth clench wanting justice for my baby. Keep Franko’s beautiful memories close; and know that he will be waiting for you at the rainbow bridge when you will be with him again. Wishing you peace. ❤️💔

OMG He looks like my cat Mewsic. I hate having to say goodbye to them. If I dream of them at night, at least I feel a little better.

Vikki Andersen. 😊 Yes, he interacted and responded to me in some ways that was more like a dog then a cat. I think that stemmed from his gratitude for being rescued. ❤️

Debbie (I do not know your full name, that I might address you properly), thank you so much for your sharing this deeply personal story about you and your dear Buddy. My heartfelt condolences for your sorrow. I, too, have lost cats, so I can empathise.

@user-jm4wb4zf7h. Your kind words mean sooo much…I sincerely thank you. Ya know, part of the reason I made this tribute was so that I could “visit” with Buddy and remember our life together; and the other reason was because I wanted other people to know how incredible he was…😢. Thank you for your kindness.

I just lost my boy smokey 02/03/23 22yrs he lived almost 5 of those I took care of his health . Hyper thyroid and developed kidney disease. I had to put him down. I'm still a wreck hardest day in my life that was.. for many years he was doing good on his meds .. but then the meds stopped working and he became very thin and weak.. I miss him everyday but glad he lived 22yrs I think my love helped him live a great life. I'm sorry for your loss hugzz

@paul850 I am so sorry for your heartbreaking goodbye of your beloved Smokey. I totally understand your feelings; and absolutely his long life was directly attributed to your care and love for him! Taking care of his health issues is no small task as I well know because I too have a 21 yo SPCA rescue who has developed both hyperthyroidism and stage 3 kidney disease. It has not been easy…but as long as Cali still has quality of life I will continue to do what is necessary. I truly hope at some point in the future you can open your heart and rescue an unloved fur baby. You have so much to offer; and I’m sure Smokey would want you to share your love with another. Be well and take care.
