Goodbye Wal

Today we said goodbye to our sweet angel Wallace. He had a lovely morning, even went for a dip in the dam. I just can’t seem to find the words to say anything at the moment. He was just ...perfect. We could not have asked for a more loving, loyal, gentle boy. He was strong and brave for us all his life, and even with his last breath. We miss you already Wal, but know that you’re now at peace. Our Wal Wal, Wompy, Womp Womp. Wallace. We love you oh so very much. We will hold you once again, in heaven. To everyone who has sent us messages and left comments, thank you, they mean so much.

I came across your videos a few months ago and have really tapped into the joy that you give to your home pack and daycare packs. I've been steadily working my way back through your catalogue and this video came up this morning. A beautiful tribute to your much loved companion, and bittersweet, of course. Been there too many times to count. It never gets any easier. And Wal's old black lab bestie is gone now too,of course. Towards the end of this touching video, I was caught offguard by Sarah McLachlan's beautiful track, Angel. This 62 year old softie just dissolved. A difficult week. My lovely Dad would've been 89 years old tomorrow and sadly it's also the anniversary of his death the day after that. We played Angel at his funeral 16 years ago. I've only heard it 2 or 3 times since. Too emotive, as you can tell. One huge thing shone through your tribute to Wal: just how much you loved him and how much he loved you all. It's the kind of life ALL dogs should lead, and I'm still involved in animal rescue and welfare some 40 years after I started. I dream of a day when all companion animals are treated with love and respect. Your videos bring joy to a world full of lousy stuff. I just wanted to say thank you. I do remember Wallace’s passing last year, but somehow missed your tribute and eulogy to him. I am so glad I found it again. I didn't realise it was Wallace who always slid down the hill on his belly in your videos until this one. Gorgeous boy, sorry for your loss. We gave our old boy Gus a 'best day' too, he didn't have a hand off his head all day, he was a big hand nudger, Rotty/G.Shepherd 12 and a half. He ate pizza, liver treats, chocolate and all of his family over saying goodbyes. Always a part of the family.

This is the most beautiful thing I have seen. I'm in tears watching. Made me think of my girl Aysha. She was 16 yrs, 3months and 15 days old when she past. She was a Pittie/Staff cross.
