When I try to crochet the cast on row, my stitches are so tight that I cannot get a hat on my head! What am I doing wrong?

I'm so sorry I didn't catch your comment before. I think you'll love the longtail cast on in the round for hats. It is stretchy and a nice edge. I actually have a video teaching it this weekend in my Lesson 7 video for the How to Loom Knit Series. I am covering Knitting in the Round and featuring hats. Here is a link if you want to get the reminder. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYSYdql-i5amqsk

I have a problem if anybody can help I would be so grateful. Every time I start a loom project like a blanket I get holes in it. I have started this one I am working on 3 times now. About row 30 or 40 it gets a big hole. I know I am not skipping pegs cause I thought that I was so I have been careful to watch. I am at a loss and about ready to give up.

Marilyn Kolako no it's a double knit panel for a blanket. But you can use this technique with any double knit item made on a loom.
