If you are struggling READ THIS! You can do it. Take a break and come back later. Watch again and then when you try again you can play the part you need on the slowest setting. There are speed controls on KZbin to help you. ☺️ It doesn’t always come the first several tries. I know. When I first started I tried over and over and just wasn’t getting it. I just needed to give myself grace and time to learn. Everyone learns at different speeds. Your brain and body are learning to do something new together and many times it is the learning from our mistakes that help us become better at something. Remember when we first learn to walk we learn to get up on our hands and knees and then crawl. Hugs to you.

Mike Hart I’m so glad you enjoyed it! ☺️ I’m so sorry but I have to delete you comment now that there are rules enforced on kids under 13 commenting. Technically since you identified your age I have to. I’m so sorry. I’m super excited that you are following along and really hope you continue to stay and learn. That is so awesome and I’m so proud of you! But I wanted to comment first to you so you can see my response. I’ll leave it up for a bit and then will have to delete our two comments. But if you know how to edit your comment then I think I can leave it and then I’ll just fix mine. I just didn’t want to delete yours and you didn’t understand why. GoodKnitKisses has the commenting thing got to do with coppa? I’ve heard some stuff about it - btw, I subscribed :>
@GoodKnitKisses5 жыл бұрын
ChaeMoon yes. The FTC considers creators collecting info if kids are watching and commenting because technically their name associated and their account when they comment; plus they identify that way (being under 13). I just want to be sure I’m not flagged as “appealing to children” when I’m marking my videos as not directed that way (although I make sure to select it’s ok for 13 and up). Personally I think people of all ages should try and learn the skills at whatever age they can pick up and hold a crochet hook, knitting loom or knitting needles. It’s great for mental health, challenges the brain and even helps stave off Alzheimer’s. COPPA is really a great thing but the enforcement on family friendly content is worrisome when the fines could be up to $40,000+ for EACH video. 😳 I don’t even make that in a year and have hundreds of video. I am a mom of 3 kids and completely understand and appreciate protection for kids).

I then stumbled across some of your videos to get a few more stitches under my belt, and you explained everything so beautifully. I decided to watch this one incase you explain anything further than what I’ve already learnt. Wow, instead of just telling people how to do things, you explain WHY, and I love that! Thank you
@youthecat Жыл бұрын
Exactly! I remember a job I had in my early employment days. Another young woman who was training me would never tell me why something was being done, no matter how obscure the method of executing a task might be. When I finally decided I could keep my mouth shut no longer, I finally asked if she could tell me why a particular thing was done the way it was. Omg, you'd think I'd just questioned a freakin Schutzstaffel!.... "WE DON'T NEED TO KNOW WHY; WE JUST DO IT!" Her words! Seriously! About knocked my socks off. I quit shortly afterwards, since *her* boss felt the same way. If a method or process feels even remotely unintuitive to me, I've always felt the strong compulsion to know why it's done the way it is. For me, knowing WHY just helps me understand the larger scheme of how things work. I like things to make sense.... always have.

@@youthecat When I was a staff trainer I would argue with management when they would tell people to “just do as I say” or “just follow the rules” because people aren’t dogs. If you understand why, you’re more likely to remember it and do it that way. I’d always explain tasks and procedures thoroughly and throw in terrible jokes, then let them do it under my supervision and ask them how confident they are in doing it by themselves on a scale from 1-10. They then walk me through the task at their own pace and I’d answer any questions they had, or found the answer if I didn’t know. Management made me train everybody because people actually loved their first day and did things properly. I’m glad to see this effort makes a difference to people.

I've been wanting to learn how to crochet for a while, and now that the world is on lockdown I have the time. I picked up one pack of yarn and one crochet needle at the store the other day, and started looking up "Crochet for beginners" videos on KZbin. You are my 4th video and I won't be looking for a 5th! The videos I watched before were all over the place, didn't describe anything, use "correct" terminology ("that's what i say but that's not really what it's called") type of stuff. NOT HELPFUL AT ALL!!! I was about to just give up completely but I found your video and I think I'm starting to get it, even improving a bit! I have found these tutorials enormously helpful. I did have to watch them through a few times because I am hopelessly forgetful but at 51 years old I can finally crochet and have just completed a baby blanket in pastel squares in single crochet. How satisfying :) I am about to progress to another stitch now I have cracked that one. My husband told me to give up at one point because of my frustration levels but I persevered and I'm so glad I did. The trickiest part was learning my own technique particularly the first chain as it's fiddly and you have to master how to hold the hook and wool that is comfortable for you but don't give up, you'll get there with it :) Thanks so much for posting these online. Lockdown has been grim at times but I have found learning a new skill has helped take my mind off it. Onward and upward - take care and stay safe all you crocheters xx

The clear and concise explanation that are evident of genuine understanding and care for the craft, the slowing down of faster parts to ensure that you're never confused, explaining little things like where exactly to place the hook when starting a new chain or how to go back and redo a part ! I've seen tutorials that claim to be slow and for beginners while they use technical jargon and speed through the basic steps ! This tutorial understands that when someone is watching a beginner video it's because they *don't* know how to crochet !

I kept going back and watching the tutorials from all the best crocheting channels and couldn't see where I was going wrong. Only when I came to YOUR video today and got to 10:35 where you very clearly explained that you put the hook through BOTH stitches of the chain did I realise where I was going wrong. No other video explained that for some reason. They went from showing you how to enter a single loop from the chain on your first row and then never explained on the next row that you want to go through both stitches of the chain. I hope that made sense, I just want to express how massively grateful I am for you and this video. If your next few videos are like this one I'll definitely be subscribing.

It is my first time to hold a crochet hook and a yarn, and I was encouraged by my friend who is now an expert to check in KZbin how to crochet but not easy to find one who will teach you acvording to your level, I am obviously a beginner-actually if there is even a term lower than a beginner that will be me😊 I was so frustrated at first, please do not get me wrong, all of the KZbin videos on how to Crochet for Beginners are all amazing, but I think we also all have that personality of you need to find the so called "The One" that also matches your energy and from there you know that is The One you've been looking for when it became easy for you to follow and your videos for Beginners made me feel that way, it became smooth sailing for me, even the way I hold the yarn and the Crochet hook is not anymore like I am carrying a "1 ton heavy metal" on me 😂😂😂 In those previous Videos I had, I was so frustrated, because it says for Beginners but I cannot comprehend and cannot follow at all, my shoulders and arms were even became stiff, i don't know why, maybe I was sooooo stress too, then your Video for Beginners came, I watched it and it was like magic that seems like I was just joking I don't know how to crochet!!! I would like to thank you for this Crochet Video for Beginners. By the way,I am one of your new subscriber now ❤❤❤

This is the best learn to crochet video that I've come across. I've been through a handful and felt like I still had questions. The instructions are super clear, technique is clear all the questions I still had were answered in this video. I feel like I have a good grasp on the single crochet and I will be using her videos to learn all the other techniques. Also nice choice of colour on the yarn, I saw the stitches clearly! Seriously SO happy I found this!!!

My grandmother taught me to crochet/sew during summer visits when I was 7 yrs old. I must have been a very patient little girl & her a patient teacher. she made beautiful blankets for the church. Those memories with her have stayed with me all my life.

Tysm for explaining that you have to go through both the front and back lips when you do the second row of single crochet. Other videos I watched did not explain that or show it really and I wondered if I was doing it wrong and clearly I was.

Oh my gosh, thank you SO MUCH for the detailed explanation!! I’ve been trying to learn how to crochet (and had my mom show me while she was visiting), but I needed a much slower tutorial. This is the best video I've found for my beginning into crochet. My question is how to count how many rows I've done?
@GoodKnitKisses Жыл бұрын
Depending on your needs you may not need to count rows and just measure to a desired length worked. If you are working a pattern you can use a row counter and click it off when you finish a row. There are all types of row counters out there. But also once you crochet enough you can see the rows well or feel the division from row to row with your hand. Sometimes two rows together can look like one row but you can always undo a few stitches (it’s call frogging to rip back) and see the height one row makes so you can count them easier. Just a few tips! Hope that helps.

Thank you so so so much for doing these videos. I appreciate you! I used to crochet with my mom when I was a kid. When I tried again as an adult I forgot important steps when I tried to make a blanket. Thank you for going back and showing people how to fix mistakes and how to make each stitch. I lost my mom in 2021 and I felt lost in life. I started trying to crochet and now I feel more connected to her. Thank you!

I know you probably won’t read this however would you do a tutorial using the pattern that the man that made Harry’s styles cardigan allowed the public to see? I knit however when I read patterns my brain turns to mush lol, and I find that you explain things spectacularly!
@GoodKnitKisses4 жыл бұрын
curlyemmm 123 awww! Well I found the pattern but you are right it’s Knit. I noticed most people are crocheting it. I’d been thinking of making a houndstooth video in crochet for the patterned square for everyone. What do you think? I just don’t think I can teach a whole cardigan right now but maybe some critical parts like the patterned square or sewing?
