The filter drier gos bad about every 5 years will leaks I had replaced twice I have spent about 1,200 dollars Why is the reason that they go back I have a heat pump witch I don’t use Can you give me a some insight about these issue Thanks

If you use AC or Heat, you're using your Heat Pump. Now if you're saying that you don't even turn it on then why are you fixing it? There are several reasons why a filter dryer can go bad and here are a few: Improper brazing or soldering techniques; Leaky systems; Improper evacuation techniques; Improper handling of hygroscopic system lubricants; and Improper handling of system piping at installation. With out knowing the specifics like if you live in a coastal area where salt in the air is a problem (it eats at everything), you would need to ask what was wrong with it. Was it rusted out, did it get plugged up because of some of the above reasons, your HVAC Tech should be able to tell you.
