I can only reiterate that the main reason I watch HG is to see relatable cars - not Veyrons. I did watch the track day video though, mostly because it had the Prius in it, and having that up against the Veyron appealed to my sense of humor. The other Veyron videos he does - I have zero interest - I'd watch some stupid baller channel like Shmee where he buys a new supercar every month and constantly goes on about how "old" his 3 year old $300,000 whatever is now and he needs to get rid of it because the newer model has a better entertainment system if I wanted content like that.

I totally agree on the state of youtube, feels like everyone who used to be "do it yourself" is being replaced by big production. I follow a couple of smaller youtubers and I love the raw edits and goofy lighting. You two are in the high production class even if it doesn't always feel like it, but you have the authenticity the same way craig ferguson did back on the late late show.
@CS-oe8og17 күн бұрын
I hadn’t made the comparison to Craig Ferguson, but after the mainstream shift I call it, I would much rather watch and support small operations. The Why Files is probably the biggest channel I watch, but if you are a patreon member he has 2 weekly lives with his fans/members, basically he still tries to keep it real. I want individuals because they are less likely to be bought and paid for by a narrative. That has filtered its way into every part of my thinking and being.

Trouble is that it DOESN'T MATTER if HE fell for it... If ANY of his SUBSCRIBERS had Honey installed when they bought something with one of his affiliate links, then he still wasn't getting paid for the referrals. Looks like Honey was collecting the Affiliate Revenue from around 17 MILLION people nearly EVERYTIME they bought anything that offered an Affiliate Marketing program! So Tyler might as well have taken some of Honey's advertising money, since they were probably still collecting the Affiliate cut from anything his fans purchased.

Precisely. ANYONE offering affiliate links is a potential victim of honey. Think of all that ridge wallet commission money he missed out on. Happy New Years! Really appreciate the behind the scenes discussion. I also enjoyed the track day episode. You don't do enough of these types of episodes so it came a bit out of the blue. If I can offer some feedback is to tell more of a story...that sets up the 'event episode'. Right now the expectation is that you're the foil and lets look into what ol' hoovie has gotten himself into now. So there's no lead up to the 'event episode'. I can think of two event episodes, the Bugatti and the land rover episode. For example fixing it at the wizards could have set up the track day episode...to boldly do what no one else has done before with a Veyron! Similarly the Land rover episode where you felt the need to do an apology episode....you explained that there were issues with the car already which is why you hooned it thru the pond. setting it up beforehand may have blunted some of the push back (not all b/c someone will always complain). While more of a production you can intersperse these as 'Hoovie events' periodically as the story fits. Apologies for being long winded, I dont know youtube metrics and the business but i can see the vision behind what you're trying to do. Take care and I look forward to more episodes!

Another problem with the YT car channels for new creators is the explosion of all of the horrid AI channels. I block them on sight, but lately it's become a game of whack-a-mole.
@AlvinBrinson17 күн бұрын
AI is going to take over both KZbin and Facebook soon. And they're pushing it heavily. KZbin won't "do anything about it" because AI makes them money. AI "content creators" can easily be tweaked to follow the rules and to generate the exact specific content advertisers want. Real people will be pushed out. Already it's difficult sometimes to tell with narration-only type channels if it's AI or Real. Usually you can identify the voice as AI, but even AI voice fakes are getting better.

@Plasmastorm738 күн бұрын
You don't need to buy a foot of land to use Lord or Lady...stop perpetuating the scam. What they are doing is telling people they are an ACTUAL Scottish Lord or Lady, which they are NOT. In the U.K., individuals have the explicit right to call themselves anything they want, including lord, laird or lady. While some companies may claim to offer lordship titles for very cheap prices, the fact is that they won't come with any official recognition.

You two have great chemistry on camera. A suggestion: work to refine your camera angles and lighting. Rotating the set so you have cars in the background for most angles will help. Also IMHO track day should not be seen as a failure but rather as an investment in the franchise. True fans like me enjoyed it a lot and saw it as an effort to broaden the offering. View count/watch time is cumulative and draws across the library. Continual innovation will be required for success over time.

Your brief about Honey missed one key point: The sponsors determine whether to continue supporting a channel and how much they're willing to pay based on how many referrals the channel sends their way, but Honey was stealing those referrals. Next time the sponsor contacts the channel, "Hey, you're no longer referring anyone (because the referrals were stolen and now come from Honey instead), we're cancelling your sponsorship." The lost revenue across all the channels that signed up with Honey must be astronomical.

I definitely agree.. it’s hard to start a channel. I’ve been “trying” for a few years. I can’t stand to hear or see myself.. plus I honestly don’t know how a lot of these influencers ( the serious ones in my lane ) are able to get all the shots they get, talk and discuss what’s actually happening in the video, PLUS do the job they’re doing in the video and STILL make money. It’s mind boggling to me. I’m envious of them don’t get me wrong.. But I personally find it so hard to do what it takes for a decent video plus do a great job for my customers. I admire the channels I watch and how it’s all done. But I’m a 52 year old trying to play in a younger adults world. It’s a hard nut to crack. But I guess it’s like everything else in life… you get out what you put in.. and with me it all falls back to I can’t stand hearing or seeing myself on video. 🤮 yuck!! 😂 Stay blessed @April and @Tyler !! Some of the YT I follow are on-person full time ops. They complain of never having a day off due to YT demands & the dreaded "algorithm". Doesn't seem worth it, but I always valued vacation. Good thing April & Tyler have Jake behind the scenes!

No question it is a lot harder to break into KZbin these days. I started during the pandemic as a hobby. Now at over 6,000 subscribers. I feel like I was 5 years too late. But since it is not my full time profession, I keep going. I enjoy making the videos...

South Main Auto Keeping it basic. Informative , best all around mechanic IMO. Entertainment (with subtle humor). Not too long . Not too short. Great channel....next to Hoovie and April :)

Better health is screwing over your viewers without them ever knowing. Honey was screwing over influencers and intercepting their commissions on click through sales. Imo taking better help as a sponsor is worse

I think it comes down to the expectations you set for your channel. Australias biggest car tubers Mighty Car Mods can do movies, music, and many lanes of car tube successfully

Doug's version of Car Trek flopped after the first episode because we found out he had complete control over the challenges, he sourced his car knowing what the challenges were beforehand and had way too much of an unfair advantage.

Hagerty’s Jason Cammisa is the Platinum Standard, in my opinion, which largely proves your point about production value.

The problem with the track day video was the rain, so it wasn't much of a comparison since there were traction issues for the other cars, and no one verified the Porsche claims....

LISTEN TO MY WORDS =THE REASON HOOVIES GARAGE IS DOING SO WELL IS BECAUSE THEY ARE ORDINARY REGULAR CARS LIKE US PESSENTS CAN ONLY AFFORD WITH AN OCCASIONAL SUPER CAR = ITS NOT ALL SUPER CARS

I don't care much about the regular super cars but the potential for Tyler to screw up this Veyron somehow does suck me in.

@@PavelCyprichI saw a cullinan (not looking up the spelling lmao) when I went to get Popeyes yesterday. Blessed to live in an area where I regularly see super cars and hi end luxury rolling around. The cullinan is the most underwhelming vehicle I’ve seen in a long time. He should’ve grabbed that DBX

Look at his last 20 videos, the most views belong to the Veyron

My 2 cents. Do what YOU want to put out for content. Exercise your creative content, some hit some don't. But you need not do the same thing ALL the time. Music groups, TV shows, all go through this. Just DON'T get complacent. Been here since the start. Not planning on going anywhere. Your core fans will ALWAYS be here. I just hope its enough to sustain.

Tyler, Good on you for at least acknowledging big names use their platform, Only thing i can say, is Give Back. HELP BOOST little youtubers out there and lift their channel up especially when they have Noticeable Talent. And Many Car tubers Do. Car repair,restore/ will it start channels etc...

There are so many excellent small KZbinrs out there that just don’t get picked up by the stupid algorithm. One of my favourites finally crossed 150k subscribers after many, many years - Rare Classic Cars & Automotive History. He spotlights mostly the vastly under-appreciated domestic U.S. full-size cars from the 50s to the 80s (when most everyone else focuses on muscle cars), and even has gotten interviews with former heads of design inside G.M. It’s a vast wealth of interesting information that so many are missing out on.

@@oriontaylor I've been subscribed to his channel from almost the beginning when he had around 30k subs. his videos are really informative and yeah it's a shame he doesn't get more subs. I like his videos in the sense he just does basic editing and nothing over the top and fancy etc

@@BLACKAAROW Adam is like the Jay Leno of American full-size cars with his collection. I never really knew much about or even appreciated them before running across his channel. I blame him for my purchase of a 73 Imperial last fall. 😄

We want MORE April on the April channel… April stands on her own two feet. Brains and Beauty will sell, even without Tyler as much as he is loved. I do appreciate your conservative approach despite the obvious opportunity to sell on OTHER assets alone as many do. You’re a classy broad and many of us very much dig it!

Love the Hoovie videos (since the S600). The fuel economy challenge was cool, but I want to see this Veyron do 250mph. The Maybach drifting was fun to watch, but completely out of place with the rest of the video. The OG Hoovie's Garage formula with achievable cars + Hoovie being himself is why I continue to watch every video :)
