There's a whole lot in this world I don't have to experience to know I don't want any part of it. I was raised very sheltered, for which I am so thankful for. I am old now, and I don't feel like I missed out on anything. You have 4 really great kids that are a joy to watch on your videos. They are respectful, kind, and behaved. I love watching your family. Can't wait to see more progress on the homestead. It's just so amazing how far you have come this year.

Perspective. That’s what you gave them. Asking do you want a handbag or college. Great place to show them multiple sides of our country, unimaginable riches and poverty, this was so powerful. Your kids are well grounded in very stable, sensible values, great job in giving them comparisons and choices. This was greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, the “judgy” part seems to be on your part. There isn’t anything “scripted” with this family other than their commercials. I have zero doubt that all 4 of their children, and both parents, would rather be back in Idaho, as they all said, with zero prompting. Experiencing different places gives them the perspective they need.

You two are such great parents and that shows in the answers to Jeremy's questions made to Nevaeh and Khamani priceless. Shows that the values that are most important are instilled in them. Home is where the Heart is and no matter when they grow up and make their own nests. You can be sure that those values will remain and that Melissa and Jeremy will never be alone because they will instill those values in the children and Grandpa and Grandma will have many little grandchildren visiting them. Brought tears to my eyes when they answered Jeremy. Bless you guys on your travels.

OMG! This is such an emotional vlog. It really depicts how sheltered your kids are, and how they were raised right. It's their choice to go back to Idaho because they want peace and serene life. Sometimes parents want to shelter their kids so much that they forgot that they have to let them see the world in a guided tours like these. And yes, cherish these moments, because I'm sure these are the times they will remember when they get older and have their own lives.

"Armed with the knowledge of what is out there!" perfectly said. The amazement your children are experiencing related to the big city, mirrors my amazement at the lives you lead. I've latched onto your channel to learn about amazing, kind, smart people who live a life that could not be more different than my urban, corporate life. We ALL simply must learn more about each other in order to understand that we are very different, and yet, we are all amazing, kind, smart people.

I'm not one to comment often as I'll see someone who said what I agree and simply like there's however after this video I felt compelled to let you know how much respect I have for you all and I love your channel even more! You showed L.A., Cali as it is and didn't worry about what some might think. To see your beautiful children express their dissatisfaction with it literally filled my heart with joy. As a mother now grandmother it's the most amazing feeling knowing our children will not get swept up in 'The World' even more so in these days while we're seeing a rapid decline in values, morality and the destruction of the Family. Thank you for raising children that will be a much needed asset in this world!!!

I love this! I grew up in the city and by love of horses and open spaces now am a country girl. My biggest observation is that people from both walks of life have been so limited in their exposure to the opposite that they cannot put themselves in each others shoes! (I think if they could our world would be a much happier place!) Exposure to different places and people I feel like is one of the biggest ways to combat hatred.

You are so right about having the family together for only a short time. My last and youngest went to college and moved into her dorm this year. Although she comes home every weekend it’s still not the same. Our son lives in New Jersey and we’re lucky if we get to see him once a year. It’s so very important to make the most out of things when the children are young. Don’t put work as a priority. I know we all need to work but that’s all I did was work work work and I missed out on some of the most important years of my children. It will be a regret I will live with for the rest of my life. This family is doing things right💕💕💕

What a great learning experience for them. I was brought up rural in Spokane and in 1968 my family took a vacation to California and we went to Haight- Ashbury, I had really never experienced the Hippie lifestyle and it was Eye opening to see it first hand. I was 14 and it made me aware of different lifestyles and choices. My life experiences being exposed to different places and people have had a great influence on how I respect those differences and makes working in a nonprofit helping low income women get cancer screenings. I can understand the barriers better. ❤

The homeless situation in LA is crazy! We visited there in 2019 and I came soon to realize that so many poor people live there on the street. First and last time I will ever visit, so many rich people live there and it’s pretty sad how they treat people.

It breaks my heart how far LA has fallen. It used to be gritty, but sharp. Now it is truly apocalyptic. Our son tried to stay out there when we moved to our off grid homestead this past winter. He moved right back in with us in May because life is so much better in the country. So maybe don't be so certain your family won't stay together in place longer than you think 🥰

I saw so much of it over the course of 52 years. For a girl from the IE, LA was a shining beacon of culture. I spent as much time there as possible, including seeing bands in smoky dives pretty much weekly since we got free tickets at KUCR. It's changed so much from when my friends and I took the bus to buy Dr Martins on Melrose. Or even when I worked in residential treatment in NoHo, or taught 5th grade for LA Unified. Tbh, the fabric district was always in the middle of skid row, so only covid policies ruined that former haunt of mine.... I feared for my son's life for the short time he stayed in the financial district this past spring. What a gauntlet he had to ride his bike thru for his apprenticeship. Anyhow, Cheers and blessings to you. I don't judge los angeles and its citizens. I mourn its glory days.

My first time going to LA was crazy. Coming from the Appalachian mountains to seeing the Crystal cathedral being built was unreal. The traffic, the drugs on the street, the needles on the beach to the Hell’s Angels, I knew I never ever wanted to live there. Even went to Malibu as my uncle had a lot there to build his art studio on. Disneyland. Nothing could ever make me want to live there. Your kids only find that out by going as I did.

I drove through Cali back in 2009 and hated every single minute of it… loved Oregon and Washington. Traffic in Cali is the worst and the people are too weird for me. You both have done an awesome job raising the kids. They will eventually move away and have families of their own but, will always remember the lessons you instilled in them the love you showed them and the time spent with them, they will always have the confidence you have given them with all of things you let them do on the homestead ❤️❤️❤️ Great parents raising well adjusted kids that will one day make a mark in the world! Awesome job mom and dad ❤️❤️❤️

Taking the kiddos to a city is showing them how quiet and peaceful the country stays. A little culture shock of fruit, flakes and nuts. My cousins grew up in LA, when they came to visit South Mississippi. They were like what do you do? We ride our horses to the river, swim and fish. They thought it was weird when they were young. My only cousin out of 4 of his siblings that did not get into drugs etc. Told me that we were blessed to be reared in the country.

There ARE lovely places in California - Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, San Diego, the coastline, etc., but everything is too crowded and so regulated by crazy politics. Tons of homelessness combined with mental illness and drug use have made so many wonderful places no longer enjoyable. Its probably good for the kids to see the other side of life not lived well. It’s okay to visit but not always the best living. You will feel doubly blessed to be back home in Idaho. Thank you for sharing.

Jeremy, you must just look in wonder sometimes at your family and ask yourself how you could be this blessed. What a truly wonderful life. I hope you all continue to enjoy yourselves with each other for many many years.

Back in the mid 80's, I moved away from a tiny village in WNY to southern California. Culture shock isn't even close to what I experienced. My ex husband worked in Burbank and the streets were lined with homeless people, drug dealers and prostitutes. Then, less than an hour away was Rodeo Drive where mostly everything is shiny and thriving and in-your-face wealth. Such a sad thing to witness on a daily basis. I now live in a small town in the Midwest. Southern California took nearly 10 years of my life before I HAD to get out of there. Your children are definitely very smart to see the full perspective.

They are getting it all! My dad did this for us. Especially being the oldest of eight …he had shown me the importance of home and how some people were less fortunate…living in high crime areas and homeless living under bridges. Feeling safe and happy with what we were blessed with even though we were poor.

I am delighted you two parents realize and acted on the importance of ensuring your kids actually experience the "real world"; not just on the Internet. Your family has been blessed more than most, but, for a child to grow into a "productive" adult, it requires a personal knowledge of the good and bad parts of life. Both of you know what I am talking about.

Loved your Channel comment. It is a great trip to show the outside world to your children, but your home is a better place to grow, live and teach them the true values of life and learn the true essence of understanding one's integrity.

Getting to watch The Souza Family way of life, each & every week, is reflected so perfectly in the name you chose for your channel. Really enjoyed this adventure of "Good Simple Living" to the Los Angeles, CA. & surrounding areas, to see the versatility of the area, while having some fun! Watching those happy, curious, excited expressions on your children's faces, while getting to see all these famous places, and experiencing all of fun things there are to do, that they've only ever imagined, then only to hear them say, they're glad to be able to visit for a week, but prefer living the life they have in Idaho. This shows me how grounded they are. But it really broke my heart, when I heard that pure, sweet & innocent Kirra, had seen, or witnessed something, that really scared her so much, that she just wanted to leave right then, and go home, which you did. Hope she won't be too affected by it.
