Every interview of Gordon that I watch or listen to solidifies his brilliance. Knowing he is a very capable automotive engineer and has worked hard to take part in the leading edge of that world for so long is highly respectable and frankly captivating. What I love most about his interview responses is the highly technical language he uses to describe aspects of cars he has worked on. Others tend to simplify the language they use but the ideas they express are simplified correspondingly.

Because people only pretend to like the McLaren F1 because of the boatloads of money they fetch at auction. If they really appreciated the car for what it is, they would be hungry to learn more about its godfather, who is this man.

I have been enjoying. Gordon Murray interveiws like this one and his build of his Cortina. In his Cortina build I love how he is a true designer "thinker" he absorbs Ideas and is open to new perspectives. I love his , inspiration is Colin Chapman , I always loved Colin seemed so DIY. I also liked eric broadleys LOLA GT of 1965. Ive had two Europa's..I rebuilt Thru the process you can see the thinking in the design . Ive restored also a twin cam Elan. I assembled a Caterham 7 . Running my own "Sports Car" restoration business for 20 years , I agree , problem solving is all I did and I still love problem solving. IM 62 and still love problem solving thru engineering and design. I liked Costin and Marcos I love Gordon lived thru the same Era I have....It why Ive worn out four copys of RUSH its a reliving of the era....great interveiw with a very interesting guy. I truely "enjoyed" this conversation.

I have only one reservation about the interviewer. 90% of the interviewing work was consciously stolen from Steve Rider who works at Sky Sports. I think that he and/or Sky Sports should have been mentioned at least once, since most of the material was basically stolen. Steve Rider had to work hard, I am sure, to put his interview together. Architects of F1, Gordon Murray episode is basically this interview, only with better quality.
@johntisbury
@johntisbury 6 жыл бұрын
I'd not seen the Architects of F1 interview. Your reply and comments prompted me to find it and watch it. I agree it's very similar content, although covering in much less detail than the Steve Rider interview. The Sky Sports programme was more in-depth and carried more historical footage and stills to support the interview. The history is already written so the content is likely to be very much the same, whoever the interviewer was. I preferred the Sky Sports interview as I found it more appealing. It was very well edited and produced and resulted in a much more compelling storyline. Appreciate you making me aware of its existence.

Hi Vacomments - I must admit that I've never seen Steve Rider's interview with Gordon. I probably should have watched it before I talked to him...! I can happily say I didn't steel anything, and I can also (not so happily) say that I should have spent more time researching. Now, if only we had Sky Sports' budget!

Was not the Bugatti EB110 the first all carbon fibre car, 1991-1995? Bugatti produced 139 road cars. No doubt the F1 is probably the best analog road car ever built. The Carrera GT was pretty good too. Amazing series, thankyou.
