Hey bud I’m hoping you can help me out. I’m as confused as ever. I’m on stock sc3s with 8500ish miles on them. Rears I think need replacement and was thinking of going with the conti extreme contact sport because I’ve read from many in the groups that they are way better for street than the sc3. But just now read that I will lose traction going with ecs even on the street. So I thought to myself, we’ll let me see if a sc3R would work for me and I’m seeing from you vid that it would not. I’m looking for a daily set that I can do some digs and rolls with. the sc3s are not holding anymore with full bolt ons and e85. Down right dangerous in a dig. I don’t even try it. I dont want to ride around with a 17 inch rear all the time since I like to hit some curves about every time I drive the car. Is my best option to replace the rear with another couple of sc3s and replace them more often like say 5k miles or should I be looking at a 20 inch drag radial like nitto r2 or even a Mickey? Would these combinations work fine with stock runflats up front? I believe the rear 20 inch dr’s only come in 35 height so I’m also wondering if the 30 front would cause me electronics issues.? FYI the car rarely sees rain and only driven 6-7 months per year during mostly good weather,so I’m not to worried about a tire that can handle rain storms. I’m open to getting schooled lol thanks In advanced.

Ok, so it depends on what your "purpose of use" is. All of my comments are for driving on a road course (race track) and getting the tires up to temperature. I don't recommend the extreme contact sport for anything performance related. It is a 340 TW tire and will not perform better than a Goodyear Supercar 3 in any category except for durability. The Supercar 3Rs will not be better on the street, they require two laps on a road course to grip. The normal Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires are an excellent compromise for the street. FYI, sixth-gen Camaros did not come with run flats.

I have a 2018 1le and what tire pressure you recommend for road course racing, i got adjustable sway bars and all rear bmr suspension control arm and craddle bushings. I have new set sc3 220

I would target 34 psi hot. This usually means a cold starting pressure of 27-28 psi and dropping 1-2 psi after the first track session. You'll start to lose grip at 36 psi hot, and at 38 psi, there is a substantial loss of grip.

Do you know how the SC3 tires compare to the Michelin Cup 2's? I had SC3 on my SS 1LE, now have a 718 GT4 with Cup 2's and thinking about switching to the SC3 because they have a stiffer sidewall, I just don't know if the grip levels are any less than the Cup 2's

I do not have direct experience with the 180 TW Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. It is awkward tread rating, since it is below 200 TW which is the typical limit for Time Trials and some autocross classes. You said you jacked with the toe... did you end up taking it to almost nothing? I'm at like .6 and .9 mm of toe, 3R's last me 2-3 track days, 3's last me 5ish, and I just went through a set of RT660's that lasted me 4 track days. All of them cord on the inside edge when they're done, which I think is normal? The RT660's have significantly more braking grip than the SC3's though. Obviously still not as good as the almighty 3R's.

BeastZL1: I'll do a video in the future on alignment, since you're the 2nd person that has asked. The alignment that chewed up the tires had degrees front toe L .05 R.04 (Total F .09), Rear toe L.13 R.10 (Total R .23). Th current alignment has it 0.00. I maxed the front camber to -2.7 and increased the rear camber to -2.0. Remember this is a ZL1 with mag ride.

Do you know if the 3r has a thin top layer. So something like a softer initial one or two lap flyer layer? I just ask for time attack reasons. I've ran all the 200 tw and this is a new tire to me on c7z and really want to maximize it at up coming event. If it's faster with a light session scrub in the day before then I'll do that. But if it's faster fresh and up to temp I'll do that. Really relying on you here haha. The thin top layer is probably heresy but fresh vs scrubbed in. What's your thoughts?

Goodyear 3R will take more time to come up to temperature than most 200 TW tires, but will be 1-2 seconds faster. I'm not aware of a dual layer. The tires can benefit from heat cycling, but more for durability than grip. A new set of sticker tires is scrubbed by the time they come up to operating temperature 110+ F (2-3 laps). For m1 I'm running the new nankangs in 315 30 18 front and 335 30 18 rear but will be switching rears to 325 30 19 once they become available. If you like the 3 and 3r I think you'd like the new version nankang crs.

@@MrHawaiiboy510 "add to cart," select the store to install them, pay, then go get them installed at that store. I've done it a couple of times. There isn't an option to get them shipped to your house. Alternatively, get Tirerack or Discount Tire Direct to price match the Goodyear site.
