This is an amazing device. Sounds 10x better than Echo Dot. The Mini Looks like a donut. Google home looks like an air freshener, and the Max looks like a loaf of bread.

Why do you need usb c on this small device? And that port is only for power. Its micro usb is enough for power. Just curious why can anyone answer

The idea is that all devices should be USB-C so that cables and such are interchangeble. The strange thing is Google in particular have been pushing for a USB-C-only future

Niklas Forslund but for google home mini , you wont be moving it to aother room anyways. Also, this output isnt fast charge. Why should google home mini adapter have to be type c when all phones use fast charge and no one will use the google home mini cable for charging phone? Sorry if i sound like i am arguing or angry. ken l Well it's the inconsistency that bothers me and others. For instance what if you loose the charging cable? If it's USB-C you can just use another USB-C-cable. The micro-USB standard is supposed to be dead, USB-C is the future

I think the whole “Google Home Mini doesn’t have USB-C” thing is overblown. Who really cares? You plug it in and that’s really the last time you should be thinking about it. Maybe the reason why Google didn’t go with the USB-C is because it might raise the price of the Google Home Mini beyond the $49 price point that they want?

Micro usb probably because of cost. Not something you are gonna unplug so not too big a deal though. They disabled the pressing because of an hardware issue that caused it to activate and listen when it shouldn't.

Does the google home mini work with iOS devices

Awesomedude360 yes it does. iOS has the Google Home app as well as a ton of other Cast enabled applications. Furthermore it also supports Bluetooth audio streaming so you can use the Mini as a Bluetooth speaker if playing iTunes or other content that is not Cast enabled. I myself have an iPad and iPhone and have not had any issues with my Google Homes.

Irfan Like the larger Google Home, the Mini also supports outgoing hands free calling and acts like a speakerphone. Incoming calling I don’t think is supported at the moment however I’m sure that’s in the works and will be available down the line.

Google should add a feature where it Can it start a conversation with you as if you just walked close to it 5 feet depending on your Setting or recognize whos inside of the house.. if it’s a intruder and know your mood..i can’t wait for them to have this.. I’ll definitely get one.

You're wrong about the top presses, they disabled those for now as devices were triggering themselves and constantly recording. I'm guessing they'll re-enable it with double/triple tap.

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, kzbin.infoUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
