@@Akab Yup. Even retail works that way. Their purpose is to provide profit for their shareholders. Sometimes at the expense of the shmucks that go buy there. My country is ridden with examples of that. That's why they bombard you with in-store credit cards to make you get in debt with them (and fleece you once you fall for it). Remember a guy aptly saying that retails are bank institutions with a store attached to them.

I find it hilarious how videos and comments get deleted and censored for stupid small stuff, even as soon as you post it, but then notice how many sexualized ads and porn bots you see everywhere and they don't get removed... Instead they're the front top page always. "its for your safety, we censor and delete anything inappropriate" except if its advertisers.... "they pay us, so, its ok" Is the new slogan on their wall.

Xan is exactly right and on point here, like he usually is. One example of problems with searching, that I have from personal experience, is that I like updating information on Genius about cool artists and bands, or just transcribe songs. (I won't share my username thought, because you guys might say that the music I like to listen to is cringe). But with Google's recent and not-so-recent enshitification of the internet, it's getting harder and harder to find info online, in order to write artists' bios or update metadata.

EDIT: if you add &udm=14 to the end of your search it removes the AI crap and some of the "customizations" I will point out that part of the reason KZbin search wasn't completely screwed is because Google videos lost an antitrust case and had to separate them, the same way microsoft had to split internet explorer with windows explorer in the 00s.

Google's forced AI responses actually got me to switch to Kagi, which has been pretty good. It lets you blacklist certain sites from your results. It is paid ($10/month). But that's honestly a plus for me, since it means their business model isn't inheritly against their product being useful.

REAL Competition breeds innovation, since having the better product with a lower price in a highly competitive market is how you get people to buy your stuff...but once you become too big to fail, you MUST worsen your product and raise prices, for there's no profit left to extract except that of cost-cutting.

Ive boticed when using youtube on my phone or tablet the “skip ad” button is so small that I almost never hit it correctly first tap. And often times when I do tap it, it doesnt even register the tap but instead highlights the button. So now to skip ads I have to double triple tap the button with extreme accuracy to actually get it to skip the ad
