Always nice when you can get to fish in those quiet peaceful places. It also helps catching fish too

I love these off the solitude on some of these rivers! My favorite place for sure! Thanks!

Truly like the early morning light and awakening spirit, and the tranquility of of the secluded places where you are fishing. Thank you for the effort capturing it all. Water levels seems low. Smally,s remind me of Forrel over here, still waiting for the first summer rain to clear the fishing waters. Agree, fish grow slow, big fish not to be taken.

I'm very lucky to live in an area with a lot of remote rivers like this. I wish I had more time to get out and explore. Smallmouth bass are really fun to catch. Very aggressive hard fighting fish! Good luck with your Spring/Summer fishing!

“Goin’ in vertical” 😂😂😂 You do get great landscape shots when you’re up that early, I love seeing all of the beautiful backgrounds in your videos!

Reminds me of Top Gun. "He's goin vertical and so am I". I need to get better at capturing the landscape shots. Plenty of cool stuff going on early in the morning!

That was a nice Smallie! Two really cool looking spots. There's something about trying new places to fish that ups the excitement and mystique levels of fishing!

Cool spots, man! I love traveling through the midwest and trying new spillways
@BackroadsAnglingАй бұрын
I like doing the same. There are so many little spillways in this area of the country. It seems like all of our rivers over here have a spillway in every town. Thanks for watching!

Awesome adventure and action. No people. Win. The birds were sandhill cranes. They are delicious. Thanks for sharing!
@BackroadsAnglingАй бұрын
Thanks for watching as usual. The solitude on this trip was awesome. I think that's the first sandhill crane I've ever seen in Iowa. I was reading that they disappeared in Iowa until 1992 when they slowly started making a come back in a few areas.

@@BackroadsAngling Well then that's a special sight. I hope you get more around!

That bird you heard sounded like a sandhill crane i believe its called. Tons of them in Florida but can still be found in alot of states
@BackroadsAnglingАй бұрын
Thanks, I'm going to check out some of there calls to see if I recognize it. It was flying high over head so probably migrating through. Thanks for watching!
@BackroadsAnglingАй бұрын
OK, I was just watching a youtube video on sand hill cranes. That's definitely what it was. I guess they were essentially extinct in Iowa until 1992 but have now re-established themselves in a few areas. Thanks for the knowledge!
@BigBassAssassinАй бұрын
@@BackroadsAngling no problem. Down in Florida they are a pain and can be aggressive if they have any young with them. Another thing to keep in mind

Your channel is great man. I know from just instagram tagging rivers can blow up spots. Really doesn’t matter if they’re not fishin the right way.
@BackroadsAnglingАй бұрын
Thanks, I appreciate you watching. I don't know what the instagram tagging part is about.

@@BackroadsAngling I think he is saying that mentioning a spot on Instagram will cause fisherman to flock to it.
@BackroadsAnglingАй бұрын
@@Bleda412except this isn’t instagram and I didn’t mention any spots.

@@BackroadsAnglingCorrect. I think he is complimenting you, saying that even something as minor as an Instagram tag can blow up a spot.

Would it be wrong to eat smallmouth? There's plenty of them.
@BackroadsAnglingАй бұрын
I think the first river I showed here is catch and release only for bass. But in other rivers I do know some people who eat smallmouth and say it's very good. I personally would never eat the big ones just because they grow slowly and it takes a very long time for them to get to 16 inches +.

I hate when fish skrink. Smallmouth are always mean, big or small, fat or skinny. That second river got a little tight. Nice exploration, dude.

Fish always seem to feel bigger to me than they are. I'm an optimist I guess. Thanks for watching!
