That's a great video. Thanks for this. I've been looking for one for a few days. @PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks and you should be fine. If it was even strong enough to puncture through, the hole on top of the small hole the frame has for it would probably be too small for a large amount of water to gain access to the internals.

Will using a sim ejector tool in the mic hole at the top damage the microphone or seal? Thanks!

On the 6 Pro, the top mic and filter are seated in a L position so above the hole and would not be damaged. On the 6 though the mic sits against the hole, and even though I doubt poking it would damage it since its a solid strong piece, it might poke a hole in the filter but again I don't think it would be large enough to cause an issue for anything getting inside the phone to cause damage.

yes as the previous com-mentor mentioned. All things considered, the fingerprint scanner should be married to the board for security purposes. @PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. Correct, but the finger print reader itself is not what stores the finger print. It's stored on the device itself. The fingerprint reader is just a reader so if it goes bad, or you break your screen, it's going to be a pain to replace etc. However I do understand the security point of few if people are able to make 3rd party readers for the phones which don't meet the standards of google or the manufacturer and thus can be more easily fooled to reading fingerprints close to but not exactly a real finger. Has its pro's and cons but at least from what was leaked before (that the cameras might not be user replaceable), the cameras are replaceable and not locked down so that's a good thing.

I can't believe he gives the pixel 6 & 6pro scores of 6 & 5.5/10 respectively. All because the adhesive was "too strong". With his scoring skewered so much, it'll be negative numbers.
@rossmanngroup3 жыл бұрын
Do they give you a schematic? Is the charge port soldered on or on a flex cable? Do you have to remove the screen, the most expensive part of the device, to get access to everything else or not? It's fair everything considered.
@PushyPawn3 жыл бұрын
@@rossmanngroup I've seen a lot of your videos so I know where you're coming from. So, with all due respect: 1. The schematics in your possession, are they easily obtained? (& at what $) 2. The skills and knowledge to understand them and all the equipment needed to diagnose and conduct repairs, how many consumers possess all that? 3. I've been charging between 2 & 5 usb-c devices daily since 2017, not one has failed yet. (3 failed micro-usb's meanwhile) 4. As for the screens, yes indeed, some require more heat and caution to remove. However I'll happily take a job replacing both sides of a non-Apple phone, over just the back glass of an iPhone. ✌
@PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
I rate it based off both replaceable parts and ease of the disassembly. If the disassembly was from the back vs the front where the screen is (since most people can easily damage a working display trying to replace an internal component or part) then I am sure I would give it a higher score. Also the fact the charging port is soldered onto the board makes it much more difficult for most people to replace vs a charger port that would be on a flex cable that is user replaceable without having the know how of soldering. I have taken apart hundreds of iPhone in my day and always prefer to work on androids personally. I wouldn't rate an iPhone in negative digits, but most probably in the 3-4 range due to the amount of different sized and type screws and time it takes to take the entire thing apart.

What kind of finger print reader is it? Optical ones use a camera and throw light onto the fingerprint to read it and ultrasonic readers don't need light to read them. The pixels don't have a camera reader but throw light onto the finger anyway. Can anyone enlighten me?
@cptcrogge3 жыл бұрын
I believe its optical
@slaps1013 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's what I suspected because of using light. But that sensor they are using is as thin as a sticker, much thinner than a camera sensor normally is. I've not seen one like that before.
@PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
I believe its optical, also it's not as thin as it looks, it is thin yes but not as thin as a sticker. If you watch @1:10 in the video (when the screen is on its side before I disconnect the cable from the board), you can see it from the side and see somewhat the thickness of it.

I wonder if a full factory reset would make the finger print sensor work.

After further testing, once the fingerprint calibration software from googles website is installed, and then the phone is factory reset after, the new fingerprint reader works.

The side buttons on my Pixel 6 are a bit wobbly, they have a bit of play. I don't know if it's normal and repairable. It's not noticeable when using a case though.
@PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
I think its normal, the ones on these pixel 6 pro are somewhat the same. Not really wobbly but not completely affixed either. They need some range of movement so they don't grind or get stuck easily.

I have a tiny bit on my power button. P6 pro. I didn't notice any but thought I'd try after reading this. So not sure how much that qualifies as.

use thermal paste liquid metal in the phone
@PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
It's not as easy as said n done. Since liquid metal is highly conductive, you cant just apply it as is. If it spills on or around the chips, it will definitely short the phone. Would require a closed compartment so the liquid metal doesn't spill out, so its not like thermal paste that you can just apply on top of the processor and not worry about it liquefying and spilling from the sides.

Except for iPhones due to the welded camera bump, why don't you start disassembling phones from the back? Aren't you less likely to damage the screen through prying that way?
@PBKreviews3 жыл бұрын
Yup, it all depends on how the phone is designed to be taken apart. This phones screws are from the front side so only things you can take apart on the back are the back glass plates/covers. I personally prefer disassembly from the back, as you said less chance of damaging the expensive screen. 😀
@yahyahfiacel3 жыл бұрын
statistically, the most frequent reason to open a phone is due to screen damage, so maybe that's why they are designing them this way these days. But yes i prefer back access too.
