Finally, Google has a pro version in a smaller form factor. If trade-in for the 8 is high, I'll move to the 9 pro. Otherwise, I'll keep my 8 until the 10 comes out putting the 9 pro on sale then I'll take the plunge.

I know time will tell but I see the pixel 9 pro xl being comparable with Samsung s24+ … very interesting to see how they will compare software wise and and performance wise

How is the smallest one still 6.2"... I didnt want to get rid of my pixel 2 because it was 5" and easy to reach all the corners in the hand. I decided to compromise and put up with a 6" screen on my P5 because the software on my P2 kept getting buggier and buggier, thinking surely I'll be able to get something smaller next time. I do not want to go higher than 6", it hurts to pull down my notifications with one hand. If the 9 was 6" and maybe didn't have a protruding camera (seriously, who likes resting their camera lens on the table when putting their phone down...) it would be an insta buy for me but 6.24" is just way too big for me.

I struggle on smaller phones now I've got used to large ones. It's weird as I never thought I'd say that! But I have large hands and big fingers so I find it easier to use larger phones. My 8pro rests on a table without any issues or wobbles because the bar is actually sensibly designed.

You need to remember modern phones use a different aspect ratio to the screen making them much smaller. The current pixel 8 is about the same size as the pixel 2.

But modern phones are very powerful and produce a lot of heat. Small phones are gonna heat up more due to less space for hot air to escape / smaller heat chambers. Also, they have to cater to demand. People these days just want a larger phone

Google is definitely wanting the Pixel 9 series to become the go-to A.I. phone of this generation. Unfortunately, Samsung has a HUGE hold on the Andriod market right now, so the Pixel line still end up as a niche product.
