Great trip guys , I am hoping to get over to S.A next year and do a trip up Googs track , I have a book written Jenny Denton it's called My memories of pushing Googs track . Her book is a detailed account of growing in remote South Australia of farming life with with a young family and how pushing the track north in the early 1970s became treasured time for the extended family and friends that became involved in the project . I purchased my coppy from the lady's that run the caravan park behind the Kingoonya hotel they do great coffee and breakfasts , make sure that you have a meal at the pub I recomend the chicken snitty with mushroom gravy mmm😊 there's nothing like sitting around the fire pit yarning over a couple of beers . Anyone that headind up or down the Stewart highway put Kingooyna on your list , top little place .

Googs track is an awesome track just to wet the appetite. Like you say support the small butcher and veggie shops. Grab a couple of cold beers at the Kingoonya hotel. Top job fellas.
@SIDETRACKEDАй бұрын
We certainly supported the hotel, it was a good stop on the way home.

Old G60 is coming along nicely (vids to come) its a double edged sword, that's the reason we haven't been out as much.

Years ago in December we refilled in Port Augusta 3pm 39 degrees. Stayed in a donga with an old air con unit at Kingoonya. Great burgers. Watch ‘Wake In Fright’ the evening you are there. You can refill too if necessary. Visit cemetery at Tarcoola 2 km north. And horse racing track! Melbourne Cups first winner is named after Tarcoola. Climb Mt Finke. It has very good reception (half hour climb and worth it). North to south is smoother and easier on your vehicle as you fill in the corrugations as you go (let you tyres right down people😡) and you finish on the green grass overlooking the sea at Ceduna. Then follow the coast back to Adelaide. Catch ferry across to Yorks for something different and to avoid Port Augusta. If you are towing you are taking too much. Be nice. Help others . Keep it clean. Deflate tyres!

Would love to see a map of the track and its location with those videos. Pleasant to watch otherwise.

Noted. That would be a nice addition. Thanks for the idea.

I'll go straight to the parent company, especially if it's an Australian company, every single time rather than via ebay. Buying through them or Amazon, etc, is just giving money to an overseas corporation and I'd rather give it all to local companies.
@SIDETRACKEDАй бұрын
Yep fair point, we dabble in both.

If I had $1,000, I would choose to spend $100 on a bag to store my $900 instead of spending $1,000 on an empty bag kislux

We'll check them out. Yes, the defender didn't have one, Mark sourced one for it.
