Yes, I thought they’d help as I once thought I could do it without the dome 😂 The dome gives you such a crisp water line, it’s stunning. I’d pay the extra, well, I did. I bought two different ones a couple of years back, one leaked, the other snapped, so I picked up the fiftyfifty for my Hero 7 and have been happy ever since. Well it sounds like it's made of plastic which is why it's recommended to not use Normal Rain-X as it's not intended for plastics. But if it's glass i dont see why not. Amazon actually has a Rain-X 620036 Plastic Treatment spray for things like Motorcycle helmets and other similar plastics. Would probably be the ideal choice.

It says not to use it as it could damage the dome, so I didn’t, nope. Spit works great.

The great thing about this one is the dome comes off! So think like a pro packer, socks and pants, anything soft, stick it in the dome 👌🏻

Nice review. Be careful, people - don't rest the dome on surfaces without a protector like in this video - certainly don't press down on it while inserting the camera or otherwise - it can scratch the dome lens!

Thanks! Well, I was pretty sure my table wouldn't scratch it and I was demonstrating this version has replaceable domes lol. In all seriousness though, yes, don't place it face down or you could scratch it up, it was a bad example on my part that I didn't have a towel on the table for it.

I’d go with the PolarPro, I had 2 cheap one from different companies, one leaked a little, the other snapped, so I ended up buying the PolarPro for my Hero 7, and this one PolarPro sent me so I’m super happy about that. It’s worth the extra penny 👌🏻

Thank You! Yes, the PolarPro one is excellent, well worth the money, pure class. Gdome is cool, but I prefer the form factor of the PolarPro, much easier to use.

Yes, 30ft is max I'm afraid, at least that's what GoPro says. Interesting to see if it can go lower.

The clips are poor quality, the design isnt 100% proof of water going in after used a few times (opening and closing). The quality of the plastic dome as well pretty easily get scratched from the sands too (Pretty invisible on your hands). I think Gdrome has a better design and quality but more expensive.

I find Polarpro stuff too expensive, I have a Telesin dome that does the same job at $30 and I get great results. I'm not a professional photographer but I upgrade my gopro every few years which can be a problem if I've spent a lot of money on accessories that now don't fit my new camera. Thanks for the review though.

I had a Telesin at the beginning, it leaked on me, then I had a GoPole one that snapped in one place, so I ended up buying the PolarPro, and I've been happy with it ever since. This new one is really great, and I'm happy we can now buy replacement domes. Yes, I try to upgrade my GoPro every couple of years too, expensive stuff. I had two things, the dome and the Aer that changed on me after upgrading from the Hero 7 to the Hero 9. This is one I'd recommend, really nice. You're welcome!

I believe they could be too large, it's a super snug fit with the lens protector on, so anything larger won't fit I'm afraid.

Would you say the upgrade from a hero 7 +Dome to a hero 9 + Dome is worth it in terms of quality bump in stills you can get when using the dome? (I have been unable to find someone that can elaborate on this. Since you're the first youtuber who owns both. Can you elaborate?

I've found it to be much higher quality and a lot better design, ease of use. The dome itself seems similar in see-through quality, but the Hero 9 won't fit in the Hero 7 dome, so an upgrade is needed if you have the Hero 9.

@@PhillipSkraba i’m more talking about quality of pictures I can get from the gopro itself, for instance using it with the dome. I print my photo’s for in frames, and they tend to be a little grainy with the current setup

I haven't printed any from the GoPro, but I haven't noticed much of a difference on my computer between the two. PolarPro as always is on top of their game when it comes to quality.
