I literally spent 15 mins trying to figure out if there was a lock as I couldn’t open it the first time I got it. I felt so stupid and this video is a life saver thank you!

Lol, I just got mine and I couldn't figure out how to open the jaws either! I didn't want to hulk out on it because I thought there was some sort of lock. After watching this vid I just muscled it open. This is one strong clamp!

You make very good, interesting and informative videos. Compared to most KZbinrs who make sloppy, shaky and low quality videos just to make a quick dollar, you seem to focus more on what you are producing. Your interest in good gadgets helps for sure. Thanks for your honesty and effort. One older guy travelling like you keeps claiming he is wealthy but likes to live in rooms under $10.

Thanks! It could very well be true that he is rich but still likes to stay in budget rooms. I find there are advantages to these low-budget hotels compared to expensive places. The expensive places are more comfortable, of course, but staying in them can be a bit isolating. You can be cut off from the country around you. And they are often located in the modern and clean and business-oriented parts of a city. Budget hotels are often in the older, more traditional parts of town, and it is a bit easier to feel like you are truly experiencing the country you are in. Sometimes you can't avoid it because the noise and smells and even people just come pouring into your room whether you want them to or not. 😃

Thank you so much! I was getting frustrated as mine didn't came with directions (I'm not sure if yours did). Only complaint is... the claw is hard to open for me. It could be my hands not being strong enough. I can't wait to hook it up inside my car and go for a drive and do some video recording. My hobby is photography. :)

Please could you upload KL to Yangon version 2 ??? I am waiting your video...

Damn. I was hoping to see a demo on a moving ceiling fan.😅🤣

If there was a ceiling fan in the room, I'm sure I'd have tried it (but with the fan turned off 🙂).

Wow...U got a *Nice* room in Yangon this time around yeah...Looks comfortable and clean...😊 How much US per night / u staying long term here....ie 1 to 2 months maybe ???
@PlanetDoug5 жыл бұрын
My room at the Sule Sapphire Inn in Yangon cost $9 a night. That was a good deal because the room had air conditioning, a private bathroom with a shower and hot water, excellent Wi-Fi, plus breakfast. That's kind of rare at that price. I'm currently staying in a fan-only room with a shared bathroom for $7 a night. I'll be in Myanmar for at least 2 months. 🙂

Seems like you have mixed feelings with that JAWS Flex Clamp. Didn't the store have that on display for you to check it out before purchasing? It's a good video in helping someone to decide whether this accesssory is worth purchasing or not.
@PlanetDoug5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the store had a model on display, and I got to try it out and play with it. But sometimes you don't realize just how a product works and what features it lacks until you actually get it home and start using it. But I actually like it quite a bit. The Jaws is my favorite way of mounting and carrying around the GoPro now. I used to use a Joby Gorillapod regularly. But I use the Jaws now instead. I love the flexibility of being able to clamp it to anything around me. And the camera feels so much more secure when it is clamped to a table instead of balancing on top of a tripod. I guess I have 3 main concerns about it: 1 - I wish there was a simple tripod screw mount hole in the bottom. 2 - I wish there was an easy way to attach the quick release buckle to a GoPro thumb screw mount. 3 - I wish the neck was a bit longer. But overall, it's a great tool. 🙂

Good video

You ended up bought GoPro's accessories that cost more than the GoPro itself 😅 If you go to another water festival, will you shooting with current setup or just the GoPro only? With this kind of setup seem like you won't vlogging with both camera anymore? Another good review. I think most reviewer left a lot of things in their video is because they don't want their video ended up like this long. Peoples tend to not watch long video, so they will do as compact as they can. Some good reviewer even talk very fast. Luckily with KZbin, you can slow down the video. Normally I slow it to 0.75x to hear it comfortably 😄.

You're absolutely right about the cost of the GoPro accessories. I find that is kind of true with most technology these days. And I try to be honest with myself about that when I think about buying something. We can talk ourselves into buying a camera, for example, because it costs "only" $400. But, in reality, most items end up costing double the original price. You buy a camera for $400 and then you buy $400 worth of accessories for it. I'm sure companies like GoPro have lots of lovely charts and graphs showing exactly this as they plan their product line and marketing and profit projections. I can just imagine the boardroom meetings: "Doug is going to buy a GoPro. But let's make sure he also has to buy about fifty accessories to actually use it." If I were in another wet environment like the water festival, I'd have no choice but to use just the GoPro. I couldn't use any external microphones or adapters or anything because they'd all be destroyed by the water. I'd have to reattach the door to the GoPro and seal it to make it fully waterproof again. I seem to go back and forth between my two cameras. I prefer the GoPro in most ways. The Panasonic has better image quality, better sound, and the ability to zoom in with zoom lenses. But that's it. In every other way, I prefer the GoPro. I never did fix the problem with the Panasonic and the terrible autofocus, but I've developed a system of using fixed focus for vlogging. It's not a great system, but it seems to work. My one big problem, though, is that I find the field of view to be too narrow with the lenses that I have. I get so used to the super-wide view of the GoPro, that my 12-60mm lens for the Panasonic seems way too narrow. I'd probably use the Panasonic a lot more if I had a wider lens. In recent days in Myanmar, I've gone back to using the Panasonic, and I even mounted the GoPro back on the Panasonic and used both at the same time. I love that setup even though it is a bit heavy and bulky and complicated.

Sharp eyes. 😃 My plan was to go onto the streets of Kuala Lumpur and demonstrate attaching the Jaws to all kinds of objects out in the real world. But I ran out of time. So I ended compromising with a demo of using the Jaws in my hotel room in Myanmar.

Hi Doug. Waiting for your great walkabout vlogs and your sophisticated humour. Not a big fan of these techy vlogs.
@PlanetDoug5 жыл бұрын
These techy vlogs are kind of an experiment. It's just that I do so much research into the things that I buy, I end up with a ton of information in my head. It seemed like a waste to have all that knowledge in my head and do nothing with it. I'm also very interested in design as it relates to technology. So it's personally interesting for me to go over stuff and talk about it from a function/feature/design point of view. But, of course, the eventual idea is to actually use this tech to take video of my walkabouts, so I'll get back to those eventually once the dust settles on all my new gear. 😃

You paid more for the official go pro clamp than you did for your room ? Buy a 3rd party clamp for $10 and upgrade your room bro.
