I've also loved his music since the first time I heard it, probably around the same year. I was in 1st grade in 1969 but fortunately I had 4 older brothers and a sister, as well as parents who loved to listen to 🎶. As I grew, so did my appreciation for the greatest singers and songwriters of that era, of which Gordon Lightfoot has got to be way up toward the top as far as talent, innovation, genuineness, dedication and remaining true. (In my humble opinion). 🎼🎵🎤💙🗺🌄🎶🐱

@Legnerps4 жыл бұрын
Somewhat mysterious lyrics ... but the simplicity and lightness of his guitar is mesmerizingly beautiful. Too bad he lost his whistler...no one whistled better. See Ghosts of Cape Horn. You have enriched my life ... our lives bud. When you ascend to the Carefree Highway ... we will all wail like babies.
@Thecaptain18984 жыл бұрын
I think his "weak" whistling is pretty fitting. I see, or hear it as someone singing one final song in the night at the end of a show. Maybe at a bar or some club. Everyone is gone but one last audience member. Some dark figure in the corner. Imagine being that figure in the corner, listening to this man sing his last song for the night.. It would feel so magical. That's my take on it anyways!

Minimalistic, personal and obscure song comparing many years of listening to Gordy. Doubt that he released this piece in it's lowbrow form to be some kind of hit of course....That straining voice, and clever verse still paint the same kind of emotional picture/message/feeling I remember in 1969. Also, Mr. Lightfoot is such an artist I cannot believe the frail whistling was left in on accident. Maybe he's trying to tell us something?
