You know Gordon. I have the utmost respect for you. You are hard and strive for the best for yourself and those around you. Having watched how hard you are on restaurants, it comes out of love and compassion for not only your craft but those in it, not out of hatred for those that work in those places. You really are an upstanding person and a true role model and you really say the truth and don't tell people what they want to hear and i think that helps them get out of their head and consider other perspectives and reevaluate themselves and theid direction. People sometimes need to hear the truth and have their ass kicked around to achieve true excellence. That is what i admire about you. You live so humble for someone with as much success and yet you keep it simple and help those that show determination. Cheers friend.

IMO I can answer this topic. According to Gordan he ratio his meals at his restaurant for ingredient cost, and make sure nobody leaves with left over food. He touches on those topics a lot during Kitchen Nightmare. If you serve a monster burger they won't finish it, and take some home, thus getting two meals for the price of one. He wants people to leave full, and satisfied, and have to come back for more. Like I said this is just IMO

Because i absolutely love a great burger, and you are the Master himself, so, i had to give this a try. It only took me a total of 20-30 minutes to make. This burger was one of the most different yet best burgers i have ever ate, i love spicy if it's not too much, and i'm not a fan of raw onions on a burger aswel. I finally got to take a bite and the heat wasn't only spicy it was both sweet and soft after the punch, it all melts together perfectly. And i love the crunch on both sides with the letuce in between that crunch of a taste, very inventive on this one yet so simple... This is why people go out and spend a bunch of money at restaurants and think it's so good. It's salty, seasoned, and flavorful. The vast majority of people put a stupid little pinch of seasoning when they cook and always end up with bland food that's just gross. This is a very similar phenomenon - Most people barely put any cream or sugar in coffee because there's something...macho(?) about liking gross bitter coffee. Stuff needs lots of salt. Coffee needs lots of cream and sugar. Delicious things are delicious.

I am a South African and a few years ago I was working in North Africa with engineers from around the world. I prepared a farewell braai for 40 people. Discussion of course got around to what is a braai and what is a barbecue? An Australian colleague of mine described it best. At a BBQ you turn up, sit down and someone cooks you a burger and 20 minutes later you eating. At a braai you light the biggest fire you can. 90 minutes later you are all standing around the fire, beer in hand. One person has control of the tongs. An hour or two later everyone has burnt fingers, three beers down and you are eating the best chunks of meat and sausage (wors). PS. I've never cooked a burger on a braai. It just sounds and looks wrong.

Thats a proper Braai, even has the dent in it. For anyone interested, Braai is normally pronounced like b-rye (like rye bread with a b in front) or bye with an R in it. You dont have to roll the R so much. But well done on the pronunciation, I know any Afrikaans sounding words are hard to pronounce, even for non Afrikaans south africans
@nos4803 жыл бұрын
Nah man. If you live in Wôterklôf you braai. But when you live in the Cape bra, you BRRRAAAAI. That R must roll like a fat chick off Table mountain.

A L I use a metal scraper and rub the grill down with olive oil but bits keep sticking and doesn’t even look like a burger by the time I get it off the grill. I went to a popular hamburger place in town and watched as they flipped them on a flat grill and they were so juicy when done and nothing sticks, so I converted
@chestersnapdragonmcphistic5794 жыл бұрын
@@AL-np5br what's the difference if the burgers are whole and there is minimal residue left on the grill in the end? If a metal spatula unsticks the burgers, is that not stick-prevention? At the very least it's stick-negation.

I just watched the cowboy burger clip to compare and I have to massively disagree. That burger had about a pound of unseasoned meat under a tiny bun, with some raw onion and raw jalepeno. For how big it was it was so...basic. Gordon's burger with the peri relish is gonna be way more delicious and is better built. That said I definitely criticise his burger too, but comparing it to the cowboy bullshit isn't even remotely fair.
