Hi Gary ,Certainly seems like it was a challenger to the Gibson stable. Great Demo as ever, I thoroughly enjoyed it

Hi Bob and thanks buddy :-) Without doubt, a contender. Clearly they followed Gibson's patterns but wove their own magic into them. Brilliant guitars and the original Partington guitars can go only one way in terms of value. Question is, will we live long enough to see the increase?? Hahahahaha, cheers, Gary :-)

I remember Scott Gorham, back in the early 80's, talking about Gordon Smith guitars as having the biggest frets he'd ever seen. Never got my hands on one, myself. I understand they're absolutely first rate. This 1.5 example, is marvellous. Terrific tone. Thanks very much, Foxy.

Hi there Eamonn and thanks mate :-) Very strangely, I've recently been listening to Mr Gorham playing 'Still in Love With You' with Lizzy. Yeah, get one while they're still reasonably priced. The Partington made originals are soon going to blitz the prices of the new ones IMO. Cheers, Gary :-)

Brilliantly played, one of your best so far. Love to hear this on a Les Paul too.

Hi there Sam and thanks muchly :-) Yes, I'm pretty sure that will happen - let's face it, I only know half a dozen original tunes so it's bound to crop up on my favourite instrument hahahaha. Cheers, Gary :-)

Hi Steven and thanks mate :-) Ahh, the originals from Partington are becoming thinner on the ground these days and there's only one way the value can go. I'd love to buy everything that crops up as a future investment but at my age I don't even buy green bananas! Cheers, Gary :-)

The only guitar I regret selling was a Gordon Smith Galaxie back in the early 90s. Haven,t had a guitar like it since. That is a nice example, great video.
@FoxysGuitarShow2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rory and thanks buddy :-) Ah, the regret stories. I regret selling almost everything! Luckily for us we can recapture those days by selling a kidney from time to time. As I recall, the Galaxy was based on the LP semi hollow body.....now selling for roughly the same price as a Gibson LP semi hollow body! The Partington made instruments can still be snapped up for decent money ATM but it's only a matter of time before they exceed the price of the new Auden models. Cheers, Gary

Somewhere out there is a twin neck (6/12) Gordon Smith one-off that I deeply regret selling 😭(last seen in Shrewsbury)

Hi Alan :-) The guy I bought this from has 80 (really) GS guitars. Is there a Facebook site? I hate FB with a passion so don't go on it. I think he mentioned a twin neck GS. That company is (was) awesome. The Partington models will become highly sought after IMO. Cheers, Gary :-)

is the neck wider than usual or does it just look that way

Hi there JJ :-) It's a standard 43mm job but you seem to have a great deal of real estate with these Smiths - love 'em. Cheers :-)

Hiya Foxy what a beauty I tried a Gordon Smith stratocaster a couple of years ago I Richard's guitars amazing instrument gutted I dihave enough money too buy it 😭😭😭😭😭
@FoxysGuitarShow2 жыл бұрын
Hi Graham :-) Is that Richard's in Stratford? Great shop - I'm on their mailing list! The GS Strats and Explorers are becoming thinner on the ground as are all of the Partington produced guitars - proper investments IMO. I really feel for you here mate, I've had this experience so many times :-( On the plus side, we can still pick up decent original Smith guitars for sensible money ATM - won't last forever though! Cheers, Gary - take care buddy :-)

The serial number looks like it starts with 03 which would make it a late eighties or early nineties model. A 1998 serial would start with 07 or 08.
@FoxysGuitarShow2 жыл бұрын
Hi there Spodo :-) I was only going off what GS tell me and their records indicate a 1998 model. However, seeing as you've alerted me to this, I'll re-send them the information to double check so I'm very grateful for your input here. Quite honestly, I'd be thrilled to find it was an even earlier guitar! Cheers, Gary :-)
@spodokomodo16442 жыл бұрын
@@FoxysGuitarShow In that case I suspect someone typed '98' instead of '89'. The GS serials run consecutively, I've got a 1996 that starts 071 and a 2001 that starts 093.
