Hi Gary, I bought a GS1 back in the late 80's. The serial number is 02301. I have many guitars in my collection, but I always go back to my GS. I also bought 2 GS 2's, again in the 08 area. Another guitar I got was the Morris Minor GS1 in Clipper Blue, this is one of the new breed of guitars. I bought this at Forsyths in Manchester. I think this is a one off guitar, as all the range were painted in Morris Minor colours, and unique to that guitar.

Hi Stephen :-) Now you've got me at it! I haven't come across the Morris Minor collection but I'll be on the lookout now hahahahaha. My paternal family members are from the midlands and a few of them worked for British Leyland. Their houses were mostly painted in Austin Allegro Mustard livery! Cheers, Gary :-)

Hey Stephen, I have 01391 (hollow body). Best guitar I've ever played

Nice sounding guitar Gary and a good demo. Shame about the bit of blistering on the neck. It looks like someone may have used a dodgy fretboard cleaner that has seeped into the wood and lifted the finish on the neck sides.

Hi Chris :-) I think it was glue. I've got most of it off now so it's not so noticeable and I hadn't noticed it until Michael Wood pointed it out. I only used a damp cloth so not really sure what it was but it certainly looked as though it had seeped from the fretboard. Cheers, Gary :-)

Hi Gary, you seem to be the guy to go to with GS guitars. I recently cleared out the attic and came across a 1984 gs1 thin body, serial number 01526. Any information or valuation would be very much appreciated.. thanks man

Hi Colm :-) If you go onto the GS website there's a pre populated email section you can fill in with the serial number and they'll check their historic ledgers and tell you the very day it left their factory. As for value, price is usually dependent upon condition. Your best litmus test for price is to have a look at the sold listings on eBay. Cheers, Gary :-)

Hi Gary bought a used GS from a s/h shop i was driving past saw it in the shop window of a cash converter style shopmust be 15 years ago i thought i know what that is they had £230 quid on it i checked it over almost immaculate though filthy haggled them down to £200 and a cheap gig bag hurried back to work ( i was driving a van all over the country at the time !) Set of strings thorough clean gorgeous coil taps perfect i think it dates from late nineties wanted a gs1msince i first saw one for £150 in the eighties ( unemployed and skint at the time) but im happy intonation very good low action wont ever sell it but i do wonder what they gave the poor sod for it ( i bought an Eko 12string from a bloke outside a shop the owner offered him £5 for it i got talking with him he said have you got a fiver i gave him all the money i had except my bus fare £8.65!) This happened in 1973 i swapped it for aKay semi and £14 with my cousin as i already had an Eko Ranger 12 still have it !👍🥸

Hahahaha, hi Bill :-) What a great anecdote! Those Eko 12 strings were awesome and really easy to play compared to many others. I fixed one up a couple of years back and loved it. We've got another GS coming up soon (ish). It's a belter! Cheers, Gary :-)

Put me out of my misery although I'm guessing it's the light, but why does it look like glue seeping out between the fretboard and the neck?

I was wondering what that was too..

Hi Michael :-) I reckon you're right about the glue and I hadn't noticed until I watched the video. It seems that Auden's QC isn't quite as bright as I'd initially thought. Cheers, Gary :-)

@@FoxysGuitarShow Yes Auden like to promote themselves as the great luthier running factory tours, workshops etc. When in fact they import the parts from China and stick them together themselves under the guise that they are hand built in Britain, and not very well judging by your one.

Does that mean it would be quite an easy / straightforward job to clean it up, Gary? @@FoxysGuitarShow

@@FoxysGuitarShow it looks more like finish flaking away. How has it been stored? My guess is that it has hung over a radiator, or in a room with an open fire. Auden era GS QC is top notch in my experience, I doubt very much that it would have left the workshop with glue runs still on it.
