Stevie wrote this song about her breakup with the lead guitarist Lindsay Buckingham. The whole album is about their breakup and the breakup of Christine and the bass player. Each band member wrote songs on this album and they are ALL heartfelt and true emotions.

@@matthewmolkentin6230 , actually Peter Green created/fromed the band and got Mick to join him. They wanted to get McVie to leave his band so they called there band Fleetwood Mac thinking it would entice him, but at first he declined and didn’t join the band for a few months. Everything that everyone says on here about Stevie Nicks' genius is absolutely right and correct and deservedly so. But as a drummer, I feel the need to point out that Mick Fleetwood delivers what I would consider to be as close to the perfect drum track as possible. Every little beat, fill and cymbal crash fits in the right spot. If I was teaching someone how to play drums, I would show them the basic beats and fills, and then make them listen to and play along with Dreams.

drummer here as well, 100% agree. I have always admired Mick Fleedwood - not just this song - so many of his timing, and accents are so well executed, and delivered. I remember seeing them live circa 95 when they reunited and he got out of his drum rig put on a digital drum machine body suit (hands, feet, knees, head etc were all drum pieces to hit) and played a drum solo with his body. That was amazing!

The reason they sound like you described, Lex, is more than likely due to the turmoil that wracked the band throughout their years together. They were basically passing each other around like an appetizer at a roadside steakhouse and it led to a lot of... what's the word I'm looking for? ...maybe disdain for each other. What always amazes me about the band is how they were even able to function together for as long as they did.

Affairs with one another, marital breakdown, out and out mental warfare- and what came out of it was one of the best albums of all time. I agree about how it SOUNDS... it's actually the mid to late 70s, but there's a certain warmth that comes through that you just don't get from today's music. It feels like a warm hug on a rainy day. Fleetwood Mac is one of the greatest bands ever, no cap.

I love how Brad just gets into it and Lex is just a pure music lover. She picks out a lot of stuff on the first listen that don't catch after 20 years This is my favorite reaction channel now. Keep it coming.

LOVE, LOVE Fleetwood Mac! Also Stevie’s solo career! Please react to Stevie’s songs “Has anyone ever written anything for you” and “Beauty and the Beast.” As well as FM “Gold dust woman.” Stevie performing is like watching an Angel on a cloud- So ethereal.. yet she can definitely deliver a stern massage with her eyes and facial expressions- She’s my spirit animal- 🧚‍♀️ ✨✨

I hope you'll do some Fleetwood Mac songs with Christine McVie singing lead. She was their songwriter and a great singer in her own right. She also held the group together through all their relationship crises. Say You Love Me, Over My Head, and You Make Lovin' Fun were all huge hits for the group.

Spot on the way Lex describes Stevie Nicks' voice. The old woman/young girl vibe. It's witchy. There is never any doubt when she is on the mic. Her voice is so distinctive.

This song came out in the 70s.. it was a major hit back then. The last time this song went high in the charts was 2020… let that sink in. A song that was released in the 70s still climbs the charts in modern times.

This album was so huge when it came out in the mid-'70s. It was ubiquitous. Everybody who was "of age" at that time had it. You'd hear it played at every party you went to (with everybody singing along to every word of every song), and several songs from it got airplay on the radio. The album was about breakups; the couples in this band were breaking up and recombining. Lindsey Buckingham & Stevie Nicks had done an album (entitled "Buckingham/Nicks") that had been a little bit successful in an underground sort of way. Fleetwood Mac had already been successful for several years with other people, most notably Bob Welch (their music from his era is among my favorite FM music; "Bare Trees", "Mystery to Me" and "Heroes are Hard to Find" all being excellent albums). But when the two merged, this album was the result. And it was iconic.

YES! Took my son to a Fleetwood Mac concert when he was around 13; he was bored. He’s 29 now, and it’s his go-to group when he’s relaxing or tinkering; the music appeals across the generations. Please react to “The Chain” if you haven’t already.
