It feels weird to see Arcteryx as a staple in a fashion right now, growing up in Vancouver and buying these jackets to go camping with family, with the core selling point being the functionality of the product. Makes the products feel odd to wear as casual pieces especially since we only ever used these jackets in certain periods of the year. Fantastic that the brand is still sticking to its USP.

I think it’s worth mentioning vintage military surplus/military inspired pieces as a sort of sub-section of workwear in that it was made to be utilized by people working with machinery. In fact, there’s an argument that vintage military style intersects with all of these styles. Reworked and reproduced military jackets and pants are often released by Japanese Americana designers, and while old military pieces don’t immediately scream gorpcore and might be impossible to style with a lot of modern gorpcore clothes, they have a sort of utilitarian style and function that attracted rock climbers and hikers in the 70s to them. In fact, I could see retro outdoor styles maybe taking off in the future.

i guess people outside the US don't have to deal with the inauthenticity surrounding workwear brands, cause like here in asia, workers don't even have the luxury to know any 'brands' whatsover, and ppl who are into fashion will buy the double knees and Eisenhower jackets through resellers, which is ironic in itself

Lol no way! Karrimor (we pronounced it as carry-more) was such a trend in 2008 - 2012 in South African primary/high schools. Everyone wanted to sport the water-proof, two-tone backpacks! There were so many knock-offs too, it’s crazy. I got only got mine 2012 and used it through high school (2015.) I rode that trend till it was in the ground. I’m not even ashamed! 😂😂

Bro love the gorpcore insight! I saw a lot of people wearing arc’teryx the past year or two and even salomon so I knew for a fact that those outdoor/“hiking” brands would pop off sooner or later. I think Northface/Patagonia is going to pop off even more with this new trend being more popularized and with it being at a more “affordable” price, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in others wardrobe going forward! Anyways, great vid bro! 🔥

Wait I wanna understand whether to you personally if Levis is work or Americana or both and also wanna understand the reason why it wasn't included in either of the lists as according to it's history was used by miners or handy man back in the the early 90's for hands on duties as some of the oldest pairs were found in the mines after being discarded due to them being overused. I have reason to believe it could run under both categories due to some Japanese Americana pieces being made from old vintage Levis. Oh and this is not to bash the video but to get some insight and amazing videos BTW as usual.
