Our mdf worked with house when house heater started and cracked between the panels. We used steel resin to fill and cover merged lines

Any advice on painting Eucaboard? Start to finish...

We're you using white caulk for the gaps and why didn't you use wood filler?
@kinghabib27703 жыл бұрын
What youuse if to cover the lines mates what glue or filler
@garethking51222 жыл бұрын
Hello, was that just ordinary wood filler you put inbetween the gaps in the mdf boards? Thank you.

what paint did you use? did you prime it first and with what sort. all info i have read says no water based........
@jeffcarlson93065 жыл бұрын
I’d use a small to medium sized extension on that roller to enable you to paint top to bottom of the wall with a lot less movement of your arms. Makes things a LOT easier 😉

How visible are the seams after caulk, prime and paint? I'm thinking about doing the same using HDF in a home. Thanks!
@GosforthHandyman7 жыл бұрын
You can certainly see the seams but it's fine for a workshop. To hide them better you could use a 2 part epoxy filler and you wouldn't see them at all, lot more work though. Obviously check fire ratings if you plan to use these in a house.

Gosforth Handyman Thanks for the reply, im wondering if wood putty or joint compound and sanding better...

@@GosforthHandyman I've looked into this abit but could you provide any more info in exactly what you meant. If wood fillers are more flammable, where would I ideally find the information to access its use safely in homes? Thanks

Can you use MDF for ceiling?? Normal screws or staples? Thanks.
@GosforthHandyman7 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... it's very heavy for ceilings. Personally I wouldn't - don't think it would give much advantage over plasterboard in that situation. I use Turbogold screws.
@bigbuilder60137 жыл бұрын
Gosforth Handyman My client wants to use thin sheets for the ceiling because last storm some of the roof came off and let rain ruin the drywall, since mdf is more water resistant he is asking me if its feasible, not really sure, any help is much appreciated
@GosforthHandyman7 жыл бұрын
Thin MDF will sag - I wouldn't do it.

Is it fine to use putty and paper tape on mdf like how we do with gypsum drywall? Thanks
@GosforthHandyman4 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. If you really wanted a smooth wall with drywall but the benefits of a wood backing I'd dry-line over the MDF... in which case just use something like OSB instead. 👍

Do you mean between the panels? It's just decorator's caulk (from Screwfix). 👍

Hi, What do you use to fill the gaps between the mdf? I was going to use wood filler but it looks like your using sealant of some kind? Thanks
@nxxynx50395 жыл бұрын
Looks like silicon sealant or caulking

Can I ask if your recommend any particular brand of rollers for painting MDF? I've found some in the past leave fluff on walls. Thanks
@GosforthHandyman6 жыл бұрын
A very short pile roller normally works well - don't need fluffy ones for MDF since the surface is so smooth. Foam rollers are good for small areas. 👍

Did you need to sand down the MDF first?
@GosforthHandyman4 жыл бұрын
No - just a wipe down with a damp cloth to get any dust off. 👍

I have just finished lining my workshop in MDF, I took inspiration from your workshop build. I have used a water based prep coat, and was considering a water based enamel to provide a tougher finish although this will probably be more difficult to apply than acrylic/emulsion. Is this why you used normal wall paint, did you apply 2 coats and how did it stand up in the workshop? When will we see your new workshop??? Really enjoy your channel by the way.
@GosforthHandyman4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Steve! Yeah, just used normal contract white matt after the primer - absolutely fine and easy to touch up. Still waiting on the house move! Everything has ground to a halt. 😭👍

Why MDF rather than plasterboard?
@GosforthHandyman6 жыл бұрын
Having wooden walls makes it *much* easier to quickly hang tools etc. - also for sound insulation. 👍🛠

What do you use to joint the mdf pannel ?
@GosforthHandyman8 жыл бұрын
Just a small bead of caulk.
@Jester123ish3 жыл бұрын
I did MDF linings for my workshop walls also, I ended up gluing their edges together with polyurethane glue and flushing them with builder's putty (polyester resin) and a belt sander. It's more work but everything is now load bearing, and french cleats can go anywhere.
