I love rolltops! I have the Chrome Urban Ex 2.0 30L rolltop which I used for traveling in Africa. The rolltop gave me a piece of mind in crowded locales, because it is virtually pickpocket proof.

I haven’t checked out that bag yet - hopefully soon

To those reticent about the functionality of this bag and other roll-tops, you gotta know that these serve a specific uses compared to other bags. I have an Aer Day Pack with all the organization in the world. It's extremely technical and has all the bells and whistles. I love it. But outside of the everyday items that remain in the bag, there ins't too much room for anything else. I always have to carry a secondary bag if I ever need to carry extra stuff or buy groceries (some of us live in environments where we don't go to the grocery in cars; we walk/bike). It's great if you if travel light and don't deviate your load. I also have this Rolltop (2.0 version, which has water bottle holder inside). I also love it. It carries everything that my Aer Day pack can, plus pretty much everything else. Bring your laptop, plus jacket and sweater? No problem. Add a six pack of beer? No problem! Might as well put in a second six pack and a watermelon, no problemo! The simplicity of this "black hole" is a feature. So yea, whether or not this is a "good" or "bad" bag is entirely subjective. It all depends on what you need it to do.🤙

thanks for this review.. the padded laptop insert is actually a great idea and has given me an idea to use velcro to secure a laptop sleeve in my rolltop.. as for the 'black hole' problem, these rolltops would benefit from light-colored linings.. everki backpacks with their bright orange linings might be a useful inspiration, as long as its not a dark color

I prefer the fold over backpacks, I traveled as a backpacker with a 30L Sealine bag which was great but I couldn’t get over the lack of inner pockets. I bought this one today, hoping it will be a solid journey. From hunting, hiking, and traveling.

A use case for an expiation system like this would be shopping. I am out all day on a bike. Hopping into a supermarket on the way back home and just being able to through everything on top is a real life saver. Doesn't need good access either, cause one just unpacks it as soon as one is back home. Rocking the Modern Dayfarer, kinda the same benefit there.

This pack interest me. I can remove the laptop sleeve since I do not bring one right, so the pack has less weight then?

I'm currently shopping for a backpack to use for grocery trips on my escooter, so I'm specifically looking for something with one giant compartment that can hold lots of food items. I'm only 5'3" though, and would've loved to see how this pack (and/or the Lite) fits on a petite woman!

Really good for groceries, you can put quite a lot in. But I do not like the lack of compartiments and also the stiffnes of the material.
@Nomads.Nation Жыл бұрын
agreed on the storage being awesome, but the stiffness not being so awesome

I like this bag and would buy it - if it had the possibility to bind stuff to it, like a mat, jacket or blanket.

this zipper really invites thiefs to steal your Wallet 😂 Anyways, really liked your Review of the rolltop. Thanks!
@Nomads.Nation11 ай бұрын
agreed its not the most theft-proof bag out there, but 95% of bags have an outside zipper

Unfortunately gotbag is not that eco friendly as promised. I have the backpack myself but regret it. Only a small percentage of it is made from ocean plastic and the bag is made in China, i.e. the plastic is transported there from Indonesia. Sustainability can be better!
@Nomads.Nation Жыл бұрын
yes could be better, but their entire operation is still very admirable in my opinion. I'd still say they aren't greenwashing - that they are a company that is truly committed to the cause, but that doesn't mean they couldn't improve their system
