Really appreciate the transparency of this channel. You tell us how much you'd pay for them and how much you'd sell them for and show us where they came from. Most places and business are too worried about sharing their business model in case competitors try and beat them or something.

Yeah we just don’t care, if the buyer thinks it’s a good value they will buy. If not they won’t. So who cares what we paid for it

@@BikesandBeards I had a similar mindset when I did door-to-door internet service sales. Told people what my commission was if they signed up, how to cancel without fees, etc. They asked why I was being so transparent and I told them there was no benefit in lying and I actually did better with the honesty.

All I can think of, is that the "shouter" that keeps outbidding you, is a dealer who is bidding for reserve buyers. He has a list of people who want specific bikes, and have already promised specific prices. This guy likely combs the auctions, looking for specific bikes, to fulfill his requests. Let's say I wanted a 2014 Indian Chieftain, blue and white, and was willing to pay $11,000. I give you 10% down, and you start looking. You find one at auction, in good condition, and win on a $9,200 bid. I have signed a contract with you for $11,000, so you make a guaranteed profit $1,800. In essence, you've already got a sale on a bike you haven't even found yet.

Bikes are toys to most riders. So a lot of riders trade in their bikes every year. Excess dealership inventory ends up here.

Heads up from a lender's perspective... for some reason, wholesale in December has performed much better than anticipated at NPA; thinking this is because of the limited auctions in the month with the holidays and the need for inventory over the holidays and new years. I ran 10 units well over my floor yesterday at NPA Dallas. Best of luck in the recon and re-sale on your buys!

@@sarahdell4042 sales before Christmas, trying to have inventory in the new year as the move into spring happens, preparing for riding season and trying to avoid paying a premium for stock during the season. People wanting to buy stuff to part out over the winter and cash in on the winter servicing/rebuilding/project bike scene as well. Also prepping for christmas/new year bonus paychecks and stuff as well. Tax year is April remember not December so....

Be very glad that you didn‘t end up getting that United Motors bike. I bought one brand new and in less than a year they completely went out of business. Couldn't sell mine either forever and took a major loss on the bike. They are built well but you can only get parts through the dealer/manufacturer which doesn't exist anymore. Also there is no aftermarket parts available. Keeway is also another one with the same problem. In all I think you did good Sean.

Great video! Nice bikes, but I'm looking for a 2013 (or later) Kawasaki ZX14R! It comes standard with; dashboard display-power control, ABS anti lock brakes, 1441cc engine. It's a wheelie machine, but the power control can be adjusted, along with the anti lock system, adjustment, to where it will stop it from wheelieing!!..lol..!!

As a former dealer (auto not moto) I can attest that auction fever is a very real thing. Luckily in this biz there is more then one way to skin a cat, but losses are part of the game unfortunately. Hopefully you take in some nice trades and make some Money there. You get it though, this is a long game not a short game. Every customer who feels good about there purchase, is another person saying what a good deal they got or how well they were treated sending more customers your way.

You only have like $1,400 against a brand new 310 to work with. I’m glad your business is doing well, most dealers in PA have been sitting on super cheap priced used bikes for at least a season or two, driving prices way down, and killing the buyers ability to trade in without losing their butt.

Very interesting how the auction works. I got a big kick out of the guys wheeling the auctioneer's booth around the floor! How is it attached to electricity? Don't people ever trip on the wires? Didn't seem like there were many people there? So it kinda depends how much you pay on how many people show up to bid; so one time you could get bikes pretty cheap and other times not so much. Thanks!
