That's an astounding value to price ratio. And yeah, this ukulele sounds wonderful! Only thing though, 34 mm nut width? A bit narrow for me unfortunately. I get the very flat profile helps, but it really could be a bit more roomy. It's weird, seeing this sort of build and material quality paired with such a narrow nut width.

I’m usually fussy on nut widths / profile, but I’d buy this one

I wish I could get a hold of that one. My first experience with a soprano is the Enya Nova U Mini, which I am enjoying very much. Perhaps that's why I have been soaking up everything I can about soprano scale ukuleles lately. I have been thinking about getting a nice one that I can afford. It's wonderful hearing great sounding sopranos. I am getting tired of seeing articles refer to them as toys and/or great for kids and beginners with small hands. Yes, I have small hands, but that should not matter. I've learned, through your videos and articles about quality soprano scale ukuleles. Even my local music shop have Sopranos that are more entry level and advertised for children. Their concert and tenor sizes are mid to upper range. I understand that the smaller size MAY BE better for smaller hands, but violins (which I practiced for many years) also have very small spacing between strings and they don't advertise them as made for children, yet children do practice violin. They do not advertise pianos as made for children, yet children practice on them as well. So why do I see so many soprano ukuleles advertised as made for children? I'm sure I can try out the concert sizes and ask my music store to order the soprano scale. It would just be nice to be able to try out the actual ukulele I would buy first. 🎶

And it still drives me crazy that they apparently think “Mahi-mahi” is Hawaiian for the dolphin mammal. It is actually the name given to the dolphin fish. The two look completely different. Come to think of it, it would look less dorky if they used the fish.

I agree if it's solid mahogany, it's beautiful as is, you dont really need to do anything to embellish it. But it's a very competitive market, and ukulele makers probably feel like they need to do something different to attract people's attention. And most beginners I think buy based on looks rather than sound or other more relevant factors.

@@GotAUkulele it's funny what you said about sopranos too, because I feel exactly the same way. I started on soprano, then moved to tenors for the obvious reasons, longer scale and more fretboard space, but lately I've returned to mostly playing the soprano. There's just something special about the soprano, and never fails to put a smile on my face 😁

I bought this Mahimahi MS-7M Soprano after Baz's review. I've been wanting to buy a higher end price Soprano, and thought for the money this would be worth trying. Over 6 months, it is regularly my "go to ukulele " in my collection. Don't know why, but I love it. Excellent intonation and Soprano sound. I agree the nut width is not huge, but I can adjust my style to it when I pick this uke up. I've yet to try a higher end price Soprano uke, and look forward to comparing to the Mahimahi one day. Soooooo many ukes to try !!! Think my attention will move towards a higher end price Tenor next year though. I played a £££ Tenor this year and liked it.
